blue steel

Miles give his best “blue steel” look here. For those of you not up on Derek Zoolander’s blue steel look, here it is. Yep, it’s true. Some people aim for the fame of Tiger Woods and get their kids rolling on golf as soon as they can stand on their own and swing a club….

If only I had gotten his shirt that said, “Stud Muffin” in the photo!

  • KristinFebruary 29, 2008 - 9:43 am

That is so weird! We were talking about Blue Steel last night! Patrick loves to make this face, I think you can find his most recent on my myspace under the anni folder. Too funny. It’s also ridiculous that I saw this photo and like many other times here, thought HE HAS TO MODEL. And I think we know JUST the person that could be his agent. BUT, she’s a bit tough– although she brings GREAT results.

He really is so beautiful, Betsy. Hope the George’s people don’t bother you today. That Lucia can be a real bitch! xo

  • ErinFebruary 29, 2008 - 2:16 pm

Who?! Who is going to be his agent???!

  • Jason VBFebruary 29, 2008 - 11:39 pm

I can relate to your parable about the young golfer. Not any pressure or anything, but I’ll expect no less from Sophia than under par by, let’s say, 6 months—-and LPGA Tour by the age of…let’s say…3 years old is being generous I think!!!!!!

girlie girl afternoon

Today was a bit of a rough day because it’s been a month now since I lost my sister. From my experience, the month mark is tough because that is when it really starts to sink in that it’s real. So I really needed to get out of the house, ignore my three loads of…

  • TonyaFebruary 28, 2008 - 3:26 pm

Hey, I see the sun here too!!! Can hardly believe it. Those treats look way too yummy. Sounds like you had a great girlie gathering!

  • ErinFebruary 28, 2008 - 5:38 pm

I had so much fun!!! What an afternoon- we should make it a weekly event just to play with wedding dresses. Hope little sMiles is on the mend soon. love!

Betsy, I’m enjoying reading your blog. I found you through OSP and 8th Day. Your personality really shows on your blog. Keep it up!

sniffles, smoothies & snow

So Miles has had a stuffy nose for a week or so but today his face opened up like a waterfall, poor thing. He was happy as a clam and completely unaware of his eyes and nose running like a faucet though. Bless him! By dinner time he was over it though so he needed…

Why is it that everyone curses the second child you may have someday? Maybe baby #2 will be even more amazing than the first one…certainly amazing in different ways. It drives me nuts and I’m glad that to know that I’m not alone in numerous encounters with those who doom our future children to be terrors and “impossible” babies. Keep up the great work mom and dad. I think Miles and any other children you have are wonderful because they are products of wonderful people!

  • MayaFebruary 27, 2008 - 9:23 am

Poor lil guy! Our little one has been sick too and you feel so bad for them.

We have people say the same thing to us all the time about our next child being a monster. A good friend recently said that she thought people should compliment our parenting skills for a happy baby instead of warn you that you’re next child will be a terror. And I think that’s true!

Beautiful night shots…I’ll have to try that out!

  • Amanda MaysFebruary 27, 2008 - 2:59 pm

Look at those big sick eyes… my goodness I hope he feels better soon! I have to admit I worry about the 2nd monster child myself! My little guy is so good, I guess i’m doomed as well 😉 The big jerk line made me laugh out loud your too funny! AWESOME night picture!

  • holliFebruary 27, 2008 - 7:15 pm

Hope you feel better soon Miles!

  • Jennie SkeensFebruary 27, 2008 - 10:17 pm

betsy and john….you both are truly blessed. Miles is such a treasure. The images and videos that you and john capture of him (even the video I took of him) truly do portray him as the Angel that he is. I love that little boy so much. I truly do wish we could spend more time together. All that i can say is that you are blessed. I, too, have been blessed with 2 very beautiful, healthy, and good-natured children. As babies, they were very happy and they still are to this day. They are 5 years apart and I loved it because I, too, wanted to capture and remember each child as a baby, a toddler, and so on. Good job on your parenting skills and your good hearted souls! It shows. I love you all and miss you very much. Love, Jennie

a day in the life

Tonight John and I tore ourselves away from our regular projects to load some videos. After strolling down memory lane of Miles’ newborn vidoes we got down to work on some of the most recent videos and laughed our booties off. Ahhh, good times. Here’s our latest compilation of what Miles is up to. We…

Oh thank you, thank you…It’s 2:30 a.m. and I so much, needed to see and hear our beloved Miles. What a joy. He is so smart, and adorable. He’s my sunshine. Can hardly wait, to love on him, Wednesday. I love you so much…Grandma Smith.

Miles, you saved us from a big temper tantrum! Our Meredith is a complete grouch this morning, and when we showed her Baby Miles, she cheered up instantly. We’ve now watched “the cute baby” three times. Thanks for making us smile. Good for you John and Betsy for capturing these all too fleeting moments!

This child is such a star! He can definitely carry his own show. My favorite? “Reading” his book…precious. I LOVE it when you post videos! More, More… Grammy King

I LOVE IT! He is so stinkin cute…I can’t stand it! Isn’t this Mom thing great? 🙂

  • KristinFebruary 26, 2008 - 1:15 pm

Good God, woman! That boy is so smart and now, I want to spend a day with you waking me up, reading me books and singing in the bath. Such a great mother, Betsy. Thanks for the glimpse into you and John’s blessed life.

a different look

Tonight I was working on preparing an online proofing gallery for Erin, which is one of the last steps of my workflow. By this step I have already processed the photos and I’m ready to pop them online for ordering consideration. However, sometimes as I’m doing my final pick I’ll see the images with fresh… Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I vote for the color one… go figure 🙂 But boy oh boy, the tonal range in that black and white is perfect!

Something funny… I’m pretty sure Erin’s husband was a groomsmen in a wedding I photographed in 2006. Or… he has a twin brother. Melissa and Shaun Tuttle perhaps? I could be out of my mind… but he sure does look like him!!!!

    LOVE TO YOU!!!!!

    ~bobbi

Oh and PS. Miles is getting SOOOOO big! WOWZERS 🙂

  • MayaFebruary 25, 2008 - 9:16 am

I ran across your blog with Bobbi & Mike’s. Love these photos. I actually know Erin too…she’s one of my sorority sisters! What a small world.

I too love the color version with Erin. More for her eyes and how they pop.

  • erinFebruary 25, 2008 - 1:13 pm

(Cue the tune to “It’s a Small World After All..)

First of all- Maya Crevonis- you are a doll! I’m so glad you found Betsy’s blog! Isn’t she amazing?? Hope all is well in your world!

Bobbi- TOTALLY Kevin in October 06. Shaun and Melissa are great, huh? Kevin has told Betsy before how much fun you were to pose for that day and Melissa and Shaun rave about you. My lord- what a memory you must have. I can hardly remember what I had for breakfast.

Betsy- you rock. I love that second pic of P- it looks like he’s popping his collar and too cool for school. Can’t wait to the online gallery for ordering!!!

    Happy Monday to all…

  • kristinFebruary 25, 2008 - 2:47 pm

OK, this is so wierd! Pretty sure Erin’s husband lived with my ex in college and even more sure that Betsy and I are in love with the same cupcake! Thanks for the new blog update Bets, my refresher button finally screamed at me to have some patience last night! love the work.

  • holliFebruary 25, 2008 - 7:01 pm

I don’t think I’ve met someone yet that doesn’t know Erin! She’s just one of those people! 🙂 Great pics!!
