take miles and chris and john and betsy out to the ballgame

Once again, I left my camera at home while out and about so this time the photos are from our friend Chris and whoever grabbed his camera. John’s birthday was celebrated by an afternoon at a Tin Cap’s game last month. His best friend Chris came along with us and we all had a great…

The music was hilarious! I’m so bummed we didn’t get to go to a game this summer—it looks like so much fun!

  • Carla CollinsSeptember 25, 2009 - 6:15 pm

Oh, Betsy – that was great. And I haven’t heard that song since college days!

happy 75th birthday dad!

Today is my dad’s birthday and I thought I would post a photo from the first day I met my dad. πŸ˜‰ I remember looking at this photo when I was a kid and thinking it was the sweetest thing ever. I always loved how it was such a natural photo and not posed. Hmmmmmmm,…

awww, happy birthday to your dad!!! I can totally relate, my dad is older than most of my friend’s dads, he listens to NPR (bores me to tears at the moment) and takes me on dates when my mom is out of town πŸ™‚ Love the story of he & Miles too!

  • annie pSeptember 22, 2009 - 11:38 am

i can only hope to look as good and be as energetic at 75! happy birthday! what a nice way to spend the day!

  • GailSeptember 22, 2009 - 12:25 pm

What a cute post Bets! My dad is older too, so I can relate to how you don’t THINK your dad is old until you talk to your friends by way of comparison πŸ˜‰

As for the car rides, my dad was an Oldies fan – was then, still is now.

    So sweet ….

  • SherrySeptember 22, 2009 - 12:26 pm

This blew me away! We love you so much. You make memories wonderful. Let’s make many more. Mom & Dad

  • Dennis BullockSeptember 22, 2009 - 1:31 pm

Great memories Betsy although your vivid description of our outfit and what was on TV while waiting for your date brought back horrific memories of what I was wearing at that same period of time in my life. Scary but we were cool …

  • Kristin GoettermanSeptember 22, 2009 - 3:13 pm

Happy Birthday to your dad, Betsy! Lovely post, just don’t forget that camera next time. Those two holding hands on a walk, amazing imagery!

  • Tira JSeptember 22, 2009 - 5:31 pm

Happy Birthday to your father! My dad would have turned 73 this year, so it is a blessing that you have him around. Don’t forget your camera! πŸ™‚

  • AnnieSeptember 23, 2009 - 1:20 am

Aww, this is a wonderful post. I have the exact same memory re: listening to NPR in the car (and while Dad cooked dinner). Now I listen to it all the time, and it always makes me think of my dad πŸ™‚

  • abbySeptember 23, 2009 - 2:15 am

This makes me smile!! πŸ™‚ (is that picture at sunrise cafe?)

  • HannahSeptember 24, 2009 - 2:08 am

I had to grin about the lemon pie. We do the same thing for my brother’s birthday.

  • bridgetSeptember 27, 2009 - 3:26 pm

Betsey, ahhhh. This is so great. I think sometimes it’s a small blessing to not have our cameras sometimes. I do sometimes leave mine behind on accident but it puts me more there, in the moment instead of behind the lens. This is such a sweet story about your dad.

our afternoon at the festival, narrated by Miles

It’s Saturday night, which means it’s time for another creative project by Bets and John. We created a slideshow of our day at the Johnny Appleseed Festival, but John didn’t write music to it. Instead he recorded the sounds at the festival, along with what Miles had to say about it, with his iphone. (The…

I LOVE how Miles says “festival” and “feather”, you are right! Hysterical!

All of the background noise and goings on makes this really cool, too.

Wonderful … add my heart to the puddle … adorable! πŸ˜€ (Oh, and happy anniversary!)

  • GailSeptember 20, 2009 - 2:23 pm

Betsy, this is so, so, SO precious. It reminds me a lot of the slideshows my peers do in journalism and I think that’s why I gravitate toward this kind of documenting life versus just carrying a video camera around. So special!

Thanks for sharing. That little pumpkin of yours is the cutest. And holy crap – I can’t believe audio is that great off the iPhone. All the more reason I’m coveting one now! πŸ™‚

  • NicoleSeptember 20, 2009 - 2:57 pm

ahh Betsy this is so cute! Miles is adorable!!

  • TinaSeptember 20, 2009 - 3:18 pm

  • NicoleSeptember 20, 2009 - 5:42 pm

Oh, Betsy this is great! I’ve been a blog stalker for quite a while, but I had to comment when I saw this. I watched it twice and Miles’ little voice is TOO cute.

  • Barb ZabelSeptember 21, 2009 - 1:23 am

I think that the JAF committee should use that for future advertising. I’m certain they’d be delighted to see it. You’ve managed to capture the essence of the day,…without the smells of the fires and food cooking. Did you try the sweet potato delight? It was really good! Also, I really like the way the festival has kid friendly activities. I love the way Miles responded to everything. πŸ™‚

  • AmandaSeptember 21, 2009 - 1:34 am

Oh my goodness, that is just insanely sweet and adorable!!!! Such a fun mix of sounds and Miles’ darling voice and of course, beautiful pictures to go with it all. I can’t get over how much your husband’s voice sounds like my brother-in-law also. Very awesome slideshow. =)

  • MonikaSeptember 21, 2009 - 2:36 am

  • BetsySeptember 21, 2009 - 4:45 am

  • julesSeptember 21, 2009 - 2:13 pm

That makes MY heart melt! I love how he says “festival” and “feather” too!!!!! And what a sweet voice! I did a similar thing with my son a few years ago, when he was 6, and I can tell you that I totally treasure that voiceover now that his voice is starting to change. Seriously. It happens SO fast. I know everybody says that. It’s TRUE!

sneaking a peek of nicole

Doing Nicole’s shoot was yet again, just like hanging around town with an old friend. I swear, so many of the seniors I photograph feel like girls that could be my little sister. (Ahem….I’m sure some would say they could be my daughters, but I prefer little sister!!) I feel like a broken record because…

happy anniversary to us!

Today is our four year wedding anniversary and I thought instead of sharing a wedding photo, I would share a photo from when we were first dating. (That’s me before I had Invisalign.) Here’s us at the Johnny Appleseed festival, our FAVORITE thing to do next to dressing up for Halloween. Since we love that… Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...
