my living room before photos: makeover coming soon!

Our house came with crazy red walls. We were ok with them, but they clashed like crazy with our faded red chairs. People would awkwardly say, β€œThe red walls and red chairs? But they match so well!” Oh those sweet, polite people. No, they don’t match. They clash in the worst way. We were always…

I am so excited for your living room makeover!! Although, I must say, I’ve always found your living room oh-so-cozy. And that cutout IS super random. Can’t wait to see what she does!! (She needs to swing by our house next πŸ˜‰ )

  • KristenJune 29, 2011 - 11:00 am

  • AprilJune 29, 2011 - 9:38 pm

Gah! You are SO lucky! I think it looks great now, but I can’t wait to see what Erin does with it. Saw that it’s going to be gray, so I’m doubly excited as that’s one of my favorite things right now. Have fun πŸ™‚

Cannot wait to see the makeover! It looks super cute now so I can only imagine what greatness you will come up with….Also, if the nook bothers you, just drywall it in. It does not cost that much and you will be so happy not to have to look at it. :)xoxoxoxoxo

How exciting! Can’t wait to see the ‘after’ pictures! I think my kitchen is the same colour red. I don’t love it anymore. I’ve picked up paint samples so that in a couple weeks we can repaint the staircase and computer room, a boring grey. I’m hoping accessories will liven it up. Maybe I can twist someone’s arm into doing the kitchen too.

  • Heather CorporanJuly 1, 2011 - 8:11 pm

LUCKY GIRL!!! We’ve been living with probably the same exact red for only FOUR months and I’m going absolutely nuts. I always thought, ‘I’d love to have a red room some day’ until said red room entered my life LOL But we’re only renting the house we live in right now, so I’m fighting the urg not to repaint – daily!!! Can’t wait to see the reveal, how exciting! What a dream : )

  • april summersJuly 3, 2011 - 11:45 pm

What?!?!? That is beyond exciting! I can’t wait to see what they do.

latest thrifting finds

Bless my husband. He loves to go thrifting with me, as does Miles, so the other weekend while out and about we ran into β€œSalvo” as a hipster within earshot called it, or as us regular thirty-somethings call it, Salvation Army. We found a couple books for the kids (P.B. Bear’s School Day and Goodnight…

Thanks for reminding me to thrift! Money is tiiiiight right now but I love to shop! You can totally pull off that sweater, the pattern looks very familiar. Let Erin dress it up…who knows what she could come up with. πŸ™‚

  • Lisa KoedyerJune 28, 2011 - 9:27 am

I LOVE your “new” sweater and headband! They are both cool. The sweater will be perfect in the fall. I can see it on a hay ride or apple orchard with jeans and tall boots. Perfect! I wish I had the patience to “thrift!”

  • CassieJune 28, 2011 - 9:40 am

Thrifting & garage sales are two of the things I can’t WAIT to do when we move back! Two days! That sweayer is SO cute. You will rock it.

  • LaurenJune 28, 2011 - 11:44 am

Love it bets! I wish I had found it πŸ˜‰

  • KristenJune 28, 2011 - 12:56 pm

I love the sweater. So it came with that belt?? SCORE!! πŸ™‚

  • BetsyJune 28, 2011 - 1:04 pm

Oops, no, that belt is mine. It was just Forever 21 though. Nothing pricey.

  • AraceliJune 28, 2011 - 2:10 pm

Love the sweater Betsy! Cant believe the belt came with it, I thought that was yours. BTW, What wide angle lens do you use? I have a 50mm 1.4 and I’m considering getting a wide angle, just doing my homework on allthe different ones.

  • BetsyJune 28, 2011 - 2:55 pm

That belt is from my closet. : )

Wide angle? I just have a 28 mm prime lens on my full frame camera.

  • BethJune 28, 2011 - 3:08 pm

    A fellow thrifting fan, yay!

  • KelliJune 28, 2011 - 4:06 pm

LOL ICK!!!! I love ‘salvo’ shops. We have one locally that donates all it’s profits to a battered womens shelter…gives me even more of an excuse to frequent it : ) I found a $2 BRAND NEW 100% silk black blouse yesterday, a brand new dress for my baby $2 and a $25 pretty new desk for my 6 year old. I was so excited, I was wishing my blog was up and running to post. I LOVE the sweater, and the belt is pretty sweet too!

self portrait series: june

June has been my month to get lots of time with my girl. Miles has been playing with friends and heading off to various summer camp programs in the morning. So there has been lots of time for me to spend with Jocelyn one on one. My brain is trying to wrap itself around the…

design for mankind photo project: post 2,3 & 4

A while back I shared with you that I was working with Erin of Design for Mankind on her outfit blog posts. I was going to blog each of the outfits she did, but she posts them twice a week, so instead of being so bloggy, I thought I would lump them together to summarize….

I can’t help but look at the mangled roll of TP in the background of your last shot. I’d recognize Jossy’s handiwork anywhere!

  • BetsyJune 22, 2011 - 3:58 pm

Ha ha ha! Yes! Many have noticed the mangled roll of TP! That was actually the handy work of a Mr. Miles!!!!

  • KelliJune 23, 2011 - 11:17 am

The photos are great! She’s gorgeous and you aren’t too bad either! The dress is cute!

father’s day hike with dad

My dad is a naturalist and master gardner. His big passion that he works on all the time is ridding the nature preserves of our area (and beyond) of Garlic Mustard, an invasive plant species. Invasive species you say? Yes, plants can be invasive. Garlic Mustard came from Europe in the 1860’s and threatens plant… Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Miles is starting to look like such a boy – he’s losing that “baby” face. Looks like fun (hot) but fun – your dad such an interesting fellow. Very cool indeed.

  • Jessica ParkisonJune 21, 2011 - 4:40 pm

Miles is TOO COOL in that first pic! Love it!

  • GailJune 21, 2011 - 4:52 pm

Miles here? I WANT TO EAT HIM UP!

PS – That first shot? The hands in the pockets? KILLS ME.

  • SherryJune 21, 2011 - 10:04 pm

priceless.just can’t put value on what was going on …Grandpa was beaming, when explaining his day with grandson and Mommy and Daddy, to me that evening.” little Ellsworth” through and through. a heart of gold.(lives by the golden rule) a passion for history and inventions. ( Miles studys everything to know how it works.)with an endless memory. If you ever see a picture of Edison, you might see a resemblance of these two to him…

  • JanicaJune 22, 2011 - 5:09 pm

Ditto, Gail! The hands in the pockets make for an entirely new realm of cuteness.

  • KelliJune 24, 2011 - 4:03 pm

Mile is so darn cute with his hands in his pockets! He looks like a Gap model! Love the last photo of the 3 of you!
