2012 self portrait series: january

It’s been a great month. I’ve been busying with fun shoots and my very favorite client ever Matilda Jane Clothing. I’ve actually shot wayyyyy more this month than I do during busy season, but it’s been like water off a duck’s back. Easy peasy for some reason. I think I’ve discovered that I’ve finally hit the “zone” with my studio space. The first year we had it I was ouchy pregnant, the second year I had a tiny baby at home (I RARELY leave my babies when they are little, especially under six months old) but now the third year has been the charm as my kiddos are more comfortable being at home with daddy or a sitter while I shoot. I can’t believe it’s taken three years, but it’s finally feeling like home over there on Broadway.

When I haven’t been shooting, I’ve been loving on my kiddos who are at these wonderful ages of 1 and a half and almost five and it’s been a really great place to be. I will say this was the month I should have signed Jocelyn up for preschool next fall but I’m still holding on to her so tightly, that I’m just not sure yet. Oh and Kindergarten sign up AND Miles’ five year birthday are looming, so I have a lot of crazy kid growing up coming up soon that my heart just doesn’t want to think about yet. (Breathe, Betsy, breathe!)

For now, here’s me, happy in the studio.

Hi Betsy – you and Gail inspired me to start a monthly self portrait project too. Just wanted to pop in and tell you. I posted my January pic tonight.
