shelbeee the movieee

Check out this brave (and very cute) chick-a-dee who rocked out three sundresses in the middle of March. I was wearing boots and jeans, so bless her. I’m sure she was cringing every time I said, “Let’s just shoot a bit more over here…oh, and some more over here. Oh, and I want you to really lean into that freezing stone wall…” She rocked it out though!

Here’s Shelby, the movie, with some more custom music by John. (I REALLY love this song he wrote, btw.) This one was written especially for Miss Shelby, since she is such a special girl in our life. I think she was 6 or something when I first met Shelby. She was the daughter of a new friend of mine at the time, Diane. Well, twelve, yes TWELVE, years later, her mom is one of my very best friends and Shelby goes right along with that. I don’t know if I should feel more like her mom or her sister, because I have grown up right along with her over the years, but either way, she’s pretty near and dear to my heart.

Here are some shots that caught my eye and wanted to share. Grab ’em for Facebook Shelby!

I’m in LOVE with the light in this spot. I kept wanting Bobbi to take my photo here when I had my family photos done last year and she kept saying, “Betsy, you have BLACK Hair. Your hair is disappearing into the background.” Ha! When I’m visualizing a shot I don’t think of my own appearance, so it was funny I kept wanting to go back to that spot. Well, I found myself someone with lighter hair and ate that light right up!

I’m sorry, but Shelby, I think you look like PERFECTION here. Can I get a heck YES!?

Oh, let’s get a little artsy fartsy for the fun of it.

You’ll have to watch the slideshow to see the funny shot that happened right before this one. 😉

This was one of the shots that came right after that train came charging by. I love how Shelby’s pink cheeks are complimented by the painted red of the wood in the background. You are so dang cute Shelby!

Oh yea, work out that model slouch.

I always like to end on a happy note!

I have to add, that it’s really funny to process these photos because, and her mom totally agrees with this, Shelby is kind of a mini-Betsy. She is SOOOO much like me when I was her age. We are both, and yes, this is an inside joke, hyper, but mellow. (If you know us, isn’t that SO true?) Though I will say, graduating in the 90’s meant I wore big baggy clothes, hot rollered hair and a ridiculous hat with a HUGE flower on it for my senior photos. (remember the show Blossom? Yep, THAT look.) So she has the fashion stuff down way more than I ever did….or do. 😉

Congrats on graduating soon Shelby. Hopefully I’ll get to see you before you graduate! For more photos of shelby, click here.

Ahhhh…these are so great Bets!!! I think the shot you ended the slideshow on is actually my fave! And what sweet music Jon wrote!!!!

Did you shoot these all with the 50 or get the 85 in there?

    Beautiful work…

And BLOSSOM – OMG, I SOO want to see those senior photos now. Sometime we should have a “show each other our senior photos” party. I was a senior rep for Affolder so umm…yeah..I liked a lot of my shots, but there are some where I was like, “You want me to do WHAT?”
