miles’ new room

It’s late and I should be in bed, so this will have to be a quick blog. LOTS has been going on around here. I’ve been cleaning out closets, sewing a quilt for the nursery wall hanging and we have been sprucing up Miles’ bedroom which has gone untouched every since he moved out of the nursery. John has painted, we got some curtains up and a bookshelf in and it’s amazing how much simple things like that transform a room. As you can see, Miles feels very comfy in there.

His room is very dark with only one small window. (Next house, someday, will have more windows!) So photos of him in his room don’t happen very often, but he was sleeping like such sweet punkin I couldn’t resist.

Sleeping

His room is looking great, but I still have to get his wall art finished (Hint: It’s a project involving his artwork and lots of photoshop) and photos framed up on the wall. We did get one thing up on the wall and that is his magnetic board. (Here’s a sneak peek of the paint color, which depending on the day and the light, we either love or hate.)

Board

We have one of these boards in our kitchen with magnets I made already, and Miles always wants to play with it and loves hanging his artwork, so we got him one of his own. Honestly, I love these things. I’m actually planning on putting a few of these up in my office here pretty soon. I made him some fabric covered magnets too, which he was very excited about and picked the fabric for. However, I had to find really big buttons to make the magnets out of so when King Baby 2.0 comes along he or she doesn’t choke on the smaller ones. Miles already knows all about how babies choke on small pieces, so he’s gonna help us make sure the small magnets stay up high in the kitchen.

I can’t wait to show you more pics of his room and even more so, I can’t wait to get it all completed and put together with the final touches! I have to say, one of the big surprises of being pregnant with your second is how much you want to prepare your first born’s big boy room. It’s like double nesting. It’s weird.

Oh, and I”m putting it on the calendar to take some belly shots and get Miles in the studio for real photos over the next week. I’m SEVEN weeks away from the baby coming and I just know time is going to fly. I’m feeling sad that my time to be pregnant is almost over and I feel like I hardly documented it…well, outside of my iphone photos. Now that I’m in my third trimester and finally feeling good, I’m so loving being pregnant. But I’ll save that chatter for the chick chat I keep telling myself I was going to blog.

Ok, bed is calling and John has been asleep for probably 3o minutes now. I’m sure I’ll totally wake him with my oh so graceful entrance to bed. Nighty night!

Your last sentence made me chuckle, because I feel the same. I have 5 1/2 weeks left to go in this (my first) pregnancy…and I don’t do anything graceful anymore. My husband is such a sound sleeper, but he wakes up for every one of my nightly departures from and arrivals back into bed. Best wishes for your the rest of your pregnancy and with the new little one!

Oh my gosh, that bedding is AWESOME!!! Where did you get it, if you don’t mind me asking? My son Jake will be transitioning to a toddler bed soon and I think that would be perfect for his room and the artwork I bought to go in there 🙂
