a different look

Tonight I was working on preparing an online proofing gallery for Erin, which is one of the last steps of my workflow. By this step I have already processed the photos and I’m ready to pop them online for ordering consideration. However, sometimes as I’m doing my final pick I’ll see the images with fresh eyes and decide to try a black and white process on some new ones I hadn’t before. Sometimes it’s hard to decide which I like better.

I LOVE this photo in color. Erin’s skin, eyes and hair KILL me. (Plus I’m loving that lip gloss!)

but the black and white is pretty cool too. The lashes come out a lot more in this one. (That’s where Preston gets them from.)

I just thought I would share a bit of my process and the two versions of that photo.

Here’s a couple more happy Preston shots to make you smile on a Monday morning.

Hey Erin, your online proof gallery will be up soon. Start the buzz amongst the fam! (I can’t imagine grandma would be too interested, though, right?) 😉

Oh, and since I love to throw a random Miles pic up for the Grandma’s in our life, here’s Miles. He’s hanging out with a plastic pic in his mouth. Would you expect anything else from a one year old?

The funny thing about that pig, is it’s part of this whole set of realistic (not to mention VERY anatomically correct) farm animals that my mom got for Miles. The pugs are pretty good about leaving Miles’ toys alone, but Whisper & Stamp have a really hard time restraining themselves around these toys. A couple of these toys have a tooth mark here and there from their lack of will power. So considering the pugs were probably in the cage behind me when I took this shot, Miles was probably thinking, “ha ha, pugs, I get to chew on this pig! Jealous?”

So is it just me or is Miles the cutest thing ever in those jeans? Even John, who could care less about clothes, had to admit he was pretty cute in them. Goodness gracious we have fun with that little guy!

Oh, and is this week REALLY the last week in February? Anybody ever watch that show in the 80’s about that girl who could put her fingers together to stop time? (It was on Sunday mornings right after that REALLY, REALLY dumb show about the little girl who was a robot.) Anyway, lately I’ve been wanting to stop time a bit to just give me some extra hours in the day to get stuff done, or of course, sleep, which, back to Erin, I know she could use a bit of that too.

Speaking of sleep, I’m off to bed. Nighty night.

I vote for the color one… go figure 🙂 But boy oh boy, the tonal range in that black and white is perfect!

Something funny… I’m pretty sure Erin’s husband was a groomsmen in a wedding I photographed in 2006. Or… he has a twin brother. Melissa and Shaun Tuttle perhaps? I could be out of my mind… but he sure does look like him!!!!

    LOVE TO YOU!!!!!

I ran across your blog with Bobbi & Mike’s. Love these photos. I actually know Erin too…she’s one of my sorority sisters! What a small world.

I too love the color version with Erin. More for her eyes and how they pop.

(Cue the tune to “It’s a Small World After All..)

First of all- Maya Crevonis- you are a doll! I’m so glad you found Betsy’s blog! Isn’t she amazing?? Hope all is well in your world!

Bobbi- TOTALLY Kevin in October 06. Shaun and Melissa are great, huh? Kevin has told Betsy before how much fun you were to pose for that day and Melissa and Shaun rave about you. My lord- what a memory you must have. I can hardly remember what I had for breakfast.

Betsy- you rock. I love that second pic of P- it looks like he’s popping his collar and too cool for school. Can’t wait to the online gallery for ordering!!!

    Happy Monday to all…
