a smoke signal from the belly

Bk Chickchat web

I’m here! I’m still here! I have barely been blogging because I have been busy wrapping everything up around here for my photography clients. I just placed my last canvas order for the season and tomorrow I have just one last order of cards before all I have left before my maternity leave is to package it all up and deliver it.

I’m sure I’m confusing people into thinking I’m about ready to deliver any day since I”m getting ready to go on maternity leave, however, I still have plenty of time before King Baby 2.0 arrives. At least that’s what I say now, I’m sure the end of July, when King Baby 2.0 is supposed to make his or her appearance, will get here in the blink of an eye. I wanted to take some time off before the baby came so I can just soak up this fleeting one-on-one time with Miles, enjoy family life of just the three of us, rest my body and get this house organized for life with two kids.

Here’s a belly shot from this week. I’m measuring a little under a half an inch more than I was when I was pregnant with Miles. I don’t have a scale, so I don’t know how my weight compares, but I have a doctor’s appointment this week, so I’ll find out soon. I’m around 28 weeks here. (See, it’s my second pregnancy, this time around I barely can remember what week I’m in. With Miles, I think I counted days and hours in addition to weeks!)

Belly

I have to say, I’m feeling GREAT. (though dang it, I do have another cold, but that’s so my life story.) I can not say the same about the last trimester though. Your second trimester is when you are supposed to feel your best, but I felt AWFUL. It totally caught me off guard. I was sick a lot and had all sorts of severe body pains that sent me to physical therapy multiple times a week. I’ll spare details, but it became impossible to shoot and edit during that time. If anyone has noticed, I haven’t been posting any new photography sessions on here in awhile. Yea, that’s because I was so ill during the month of March and April that I had to cut my season short and just focus on taking care of the clients I had already photographed. That really stunk cutting my shooting season short and missing out on clients I was really excited to photograph, but it’s exactly what my body needed to heal. I’m very thankful that everyone in my world, including my clients, have been so supportive of me and what I have needed to do for my body and my baby this past spring. (Thank you to my fellow Fort Wayne photographers for helping me out too!)

I figured that once my third trimester came along, that I would REALLY feel like crap. Just the opposite! I guess taking a break from shooting worked because I’ve been feeling so much better. Actually, I’ve been feeling so great that I’ve been forgetting I’m pregnant and doing stupid things like lifting Miles with my back or just doing too much. Now, as long as I can get rid of this cold…

The baby is moving and kicking so much that we are starting to be able to see my belly move, which we call, “Whale Watching.” It’s so much fun to watch the excitement in John’s face when he can feel the baby move or see him/her move my belly. I can’ t wait for Miles to be able to see my belly move. So far he likes to point to my belly button and say, “That’s where the baby will come out!”

It’s late, and I’m falling asleep at the keyboard, so I’ll write more later. I just wanted to send a little smoke signal out to the blogosphere to say hello.

PS That black t-shirt is a non-maternity shirt from H&M and I’m so in love with it, I wish they had it in ten colors. (The long sleeve wrap is from Matilda Jane Clothing.) I love the wrap because I think all the weight I have gained has gone to my arms. UGH! Back to the T-shirt. The T-shirt is nice and LONG, which I swear, the majority of maternity clothes are made for short waisted women. (I have a super long torso, which is even longer when prego.) So this shirt is nice and snug, but stretchy, longggg and comfy. Thank God for Forever 21 (where I got the shirt I wore at our family photo shoot) and H&M. Those stores are a life saver for people like me who really hate maternity tops.

Nighty night everybody!
