all boy

John and I are constantly amazed at how Miles gravitates towards stereotypical “boy stuff” without us directing him in any way. As you may know we have a pretty sports-free home and I think our toys are pretty gender neutral. However, for Miles, if it’s shaped like a ball, i.e. a rolled up sock, orange, apple, watermelon or a rock, it’s a ball, or “ba” as Miles says. We were outside hanging out the other night and Miles stole these soccer balls straight out of our neighbor’s yard. The little guy is NUTS over throwing, kicking or carrying around balls. (Yes, we have balls for this kid, but John did make a run to get a bigger one for him tonight.)

He LOVES getting dirty and will dig his hands into dirt and splash water all over the place. Summer is going to be awesome for Miles because he can just finally dig in and play the way he really likes to. Yep, this is Miles drinking out of his watering can.

I just bought a bunch of summer clothes for Miles today (I got some CUTE stuff!) but honestly, he is going to be in a bathing suit or old play clothes all summer.

The only bummer is he won’t wear a hat, so I get a little freaked out about him being in the crazy afternoon direct sun and worrying about burning his eyes. So I need to see if he’ll wear sunglasses, but I can’t imagine that will be very successful.

I still have lots of Matilda Jane shots to share, a couple of baby showers and there are always pics of Miles, so those will be coming up soon. I should have been processing tonight, but I just wanted to take a little break and blog a bit before bed.

Thanks for tuning in!

Oh, btw, did anybody hear about this little doozy of a book that just came out? Wow. It looks like having a happy child is just nip/tuck away! Look how happy that little girl in the book is. I love how the little girl is looking at the mom in awe and the mom isn’t even looking at her. I feel gross now. The illustrations alone makes the book lose any credibility it had with me. I guess Chris Van Allsburg wasn’t available for this project.

I’m shushing!!

I have started reading your blog after hearing Denise (MJC) rave about you. I had to comment on this post. We lost our precious SUMO WONTON BEIJING JONES a few years ago (black chinese pug). He was our “little man”. So I know the love you feel for your babies. Sumo was like a child to us too. Your babies are just beautiful.
