Happy 10th birthday to Miles!

My son’s teacher asks parents to write a letter to their child for their birthday and they read it to the class. Here’s my letter to my son Miles, on his tenth birthday. Miles King arrived on a cold, wintry morning. Groundhog Day, to be exact. A day when no rodent, large or small, would…

Happy 8th Birthday to Miles

Today our sweet Miles turns eight years old. He’s so funny, smart, complex and a ball of whirling, swirling energy that never ceases to surprise me. This year, he wanted a very small and homemade Skylanders party. Miles created his own games, helped with the food and made his own decorations. He really loves to…

Miles’ first day of school: 2nd Grade, Los Gatos, California

Miles got off to his first day of second grade in California. He did great getting ready this morning, but his little sister went to drop off in her pajamas and robe! Thankfully she doesn’t have school until September because she is still on Summer sleep in schedule! Miles hates photos but is learning to…

King’s Halloween: 2013

Halloween is my favorite holiday because it’s just so much fun to dress up in costumes, say hello to neighbors and of course, the candy is a major perk! We’ve gotten lucky in year’s past with nice, warm evenings to roam the neighborhood. However, this year was a water logged evening that started out a…

Sweet Betsy! What a wonderful momma you are to Miles and Joss. Miles will enjoy a fabulous first grade year and we will love his stories through your camera and words. Reading this made me think of Megan and Troy’s first days at school. They are the memories that we tuck away and unpack to relive whenever we are homesick, frightened or unsure. Those sweet memories bring me comfort whenever I choose to get them out…and they never fade or fail. Enjoy!!

I cannot believe how much Miles has grown up. I feel like school is starting really early for him? In the north-east, school doesn’t start until late August or after labor day. Good luck in 1st grade Miles…you’ll do great. 🙂
