chill out mom

As you may remember from my last post, I have Jocelyn’s dedication that I”m hosting at our home this weekend. I’ve been sick and I’m still getting the hang of this whole two child dynamic, so finding a way to prepare for this party while juggling it all left me so stressed this morning that I thought my insides were going to explode. Trying to clean with Miles in the house (and my mother coming over and bringing more toys) is like shoveling in a blizzard, running on a hamster wheel or like driving a nail through your eye.

Miraculously, I didn’t explode. I did yell “NO! BAD!” Like I was scolding a dog when Miles decided he needed to get my attention by tearing apart my Six Feet Under DVD box set old school attention getting style. WTH dude! Miles, you are my little man. Why are you being so evil?!? (Note to self, hide your prized possessions to avoid future heartbreak.) His reply when asked why he tore apart my DVD set was, “Those DVD’s didn’t look fun.” Well, to his defense, they don’t look fun. They have a dead person on the cover, But hon, give mommy a break ok? You can go ape on Sunday when the party is all over. Just give me a little wiggle room the next two days and I’ll have a 16 hour long staring contest with you if you want and give you all the attention in the world.

So wish me luck that I can pull off my first party as a mom of two. Oh and here’s a hilarious blog post that A.) Had me rolling and B.) Has given me a lot of perspective on the inner workings of my son. C.) I hope doesn’t actually end up happening at my party. Check this post out and LAUGH forever.

By the way, I ended up going and getting coffee with the kids and my mom for a lonnnng break this afternoon and that made me totally chill. All is well again in the King house. Thankfully.

Since a blog post isn’t a blog post around here without a photo, here’s Jossy B. I’m not playing favorites here by not posting a photo of Miles, but he dodges the camera these days. So Jossy it is!

Sorry for the total randomness in my writing tonight. I’m hoping to gathering enough time for a real blog post soon.

Ha! I’m not chuckling at you I’m doing it with you. Oh yes cleaning the house with kids is fun with a capital F! Just remember anyone coming this weekend is coming to see you and your darling family, to celebrate Jocelyn and her dedication and not to judge whether the toys are perfect, dusting done and the house being neat as a pin. That’s been the hardest lesson to learn for me as a mom – but at the end of the day it’s the truth. Get the important things done, the rest, if they get done, they get done. Take a deep breath, enjoy and remember a glass of wine never hurt anyone (even a nursing baby). ;o) Have a wonderful dedication. Loving Jocelyn’s pretty blue eyes.

It was wonderful spending time with my daughter, away from home. Visiting for two hours at the Mocha lounge was a very special experience for Mother and Daughter. Let’s do it again real soon. I ask Miles ,if it was an accident, what happened to Mom’s stuff..He said. “Oh no, I did it on purpose.” 🙂

Miles’ reply was hilarious! Also loved the blog you linked to. P.S. While my sister and I were on the topic of smart & cute kids & babies the other day, I went to your blog to show her the videos of Miles reading & the video you made of him reciting the Dr. Seuss book–she was quite smitten! :- ) I won’t show her the above post about his little destructive mishap–I’m campaigning hard for a niece or nephew.
