he’s 4, so you know…

Oh Miles. He’s four, so you know, he does his own thing. Anytime I ever make a comment about some weird behavior that he’s doing, people say, “Oh that’s just four year olds.” One of the big things about Miles right now at the age of four is that he does not like having his photo taken AT ALL. I definitely feel like this is probably my fault for obvious reasons, but regardless of why he hates the camera, I gotta somehow manage to snap some pics of this guy.

Here’s what our friend Chris captured of Miles the other day. There’s a cute boy somewhere in there…

Here’s Miles around the house, grabbed by me: Monkey face with his Jocelyn shadow.

I gotta say, even if his expression is menacing, that is one beautiful face and very kissable cheeks!

Our friend Chris can capture the best and most genuine smiles from Miles though. How great is this happy little face? Miles just loves playing at his house.

It’s been weighing heavy on my heart that we haven’t gotten many photos of the four of us all together in awhile. I have not wanted to bother my amazingly talented friends for a session during prime shooting season just to have them deal with a boy who is not loving the camera, so I asked Chris, who very sweetly agreed to help us out. We have this photo on the mantle, a quick snapshot from a beloved wedding we attended and I wanted to grab another quick shot like this of our family. I definitely want to do a bigger shoot at some point, but I just wanted to get us captured simply first, kind of like this photo did, and then we can get more creative down the road a bit.

I have a spot downtown that has great light no matter what time of day so I set up my camera, handed it to Chris and hoped we could get at least one shot capturing my family. He was a miracle worker as we got some great shots that I love! Oh and yes, I realize that I wore the same dress in both sets of photos. That’s so like me not to care.

While we were taking photos, I snapped a couple of Chris and his lovely fiance Nicole. Yep, that’s right, Chris is getting married! No, I didn’t set him up with Nicole, but I love her just the same.

So yes, even though Miles is hating the camera right now, we were still able to capture all of us together, which makes me so happy. Thanks Chris! So, who wants to see a blooper real? 😉

Also, anybody out there have kids who hate or hated the camera? Please tell me it didn’t last forever!

Isabelle went through the same phase and I feel like Schuyler is already entering it. I have a lot of pictures of the back and sides of his head..he will not let me get in front of him with a camera!

Nicole is GORGEOUS. And I love that you have the same dress on; I think it’s fitting. 🙂 Hugs!

I think my favorite is the one with Jossy walking away. I like the way her little arms and feet look in the picture, not to mention your smile and John & Miles in the background. My son just turned 3 and he is so uncooperative when it comes to family pictures. If anyone knows any “tricks”, I’d like to hear them…I can’t wait till he’s 5 for a decent family portrait

Betsy, my son just turned four and he is just getting back to liking his picture being taken. He hated it all last year. There is hope. Hang in there! On another note, I love that you are wearing the same dress in the pictures. It looks adorable on you.

I have a 15 yr. old daughter, she dislikes getting her picture taken still. Chris got some great family shots! Love the location.
