Juno

Category: Uncategorized

John and I got to do something today that we used to do multiple times in a weekend but since Miles came along, we haven’t got to do since this past summer.

Get your heads out of the gutter! Sheesh! We went to a movie today and it was AWESOME. We saw Juno and we have been DYING to see it. (Thank you Grandma!) It has two of our favorite characters from the AWESOME show Arrested Development (You must rent it IMMEDIATELY if you have not seen this tv series yet.)

So if you are still reading this and you haven’t seen arrested development, I’m serious. Get off the computer and go rent Arrested development.

Ok, now that we got that out of the way, back to Juno. It was actually listed as the #1 movie of 2007 today by Roger Ebert and it JUST came out. Jennifer Garner was in it too and she was PERFECT. Actually, everybody played their parts dead-on. It was reminiscent of Garden State with it’s quirkiness and cool actors, but I think I may have enjoyed this movie much more. (Sorry Zach Braff, I will still always love you!)

So we saw it today and I cried 3 different times during the movie. That hasn’t happened since I saw Forrest Gump. The third time Juno made me cry, I was crying so hard I couldn’t even see the screen. Then I had a huge headache from trying to cut the tears off. (Which reminds me of when I was 7 years old and I saw ET in the theater and I didn’t let myself cry and had the worst stomachache ever. I kind of prided myself from being able to turn to stone and not cry as a kid. Boy has that has changed!) I wonder if I would have cried as hard if I had seen this before I had Miles. Some of you sans kids will have to let me know if it made you cry too or if I’m just an emotional mom now. Though I know for sure there was one other person with misty eyes in the theater!! 😉

Anyway, you must A.) see arrested development ASAP and B.) Go see Juno. It’s quirky and weird, but that is right up our alley.

I won’t give anything away, but once you see it, comment me about how amazing the scene in the mall with Jennifer Garner was. The director was GENIUS to take the time he did with it.

P.S. I laughed ten times more than I cried. Just had to add that.

Bets, Okay, too funny because Nick and I JUST went to see Juno on Saturday too!! We both loved it equally as much as you guys did (Nick loved Juno’s dad and Allison Janney as her step-mom was brilliant!). I have to admit, even though the part at the end (with the note .. that’s all I’ll say!) had me feeling a little misty-eyed, I didn’t cry over this one (and I don’t have kids yet). If you liked this movie, you guys HAVE to rent Lars and the Real Girl when it comes out. Juno reminds me so much of Lars in some way (b/c it’s super-sweet too) and don’t let the fact it’s about a man and a doll fool you! It’s the most PG movie I’ve seen all year!

Yeah for you guys getting to see a movie by the way! And great review!

It’s so funny that today was your first movie since Miles… today was our first movie since Eli!! 🙂 We went and saw National Treasure 2… you know me the geeky history teacher. But it was a good movie, but it was weird to be out and about without Eli.

Now you need to go see juno, though you will never look at your students the same again! ; )

Can’t wait to see it! thanks for the trailer and personal review, Bets! And to Gail’s comment, I have heard nothing but fabulous things about Lars And The Real Girl, so that’s now on my ever-growing list of movies that I need to see.

Can’t wait to see you guys! xo, Erin
