Miles wrapped up his first year of elementary school last week and ever since we’ve been in a whirlwind of graduation parties and summer activities. My head is spinning as I try to digest this huge year (NEVER knew how life changing and all encompassing school would be!) and get into the swing of a new summer schedule. It’s amazing how much he learned this year, the friendships he made and what a grown up little guy we have. So here’s our last day of school, jam packed with anticipation, retrospection, swelled hearts and joy.
His last sprint to the bus stop, with bag in hand to bring home all his goodies.
Even with John’s new job, he still goes to the bus stop every morning.
Mrs. Howard was everything we ever dreamed his first teacher would be, and so much more. We will miss her so much! (Dear God, please let his first grade teacher be an awesome communicator and mom emailer like she was. Even though our Miles can be a bit of a day dreamer, she still saw his strengths and helped him to make those shine. Such a blessing she was!)
Miles was awarded the Professor Award out of his classmates because, as anybody knows him, he’s quite the little “know it all!”
He made so many wonderful friends this year. His whole class was just precious. The only time we ever heard about bullying going on at school was on the bus, with kids from another class.
We left the last day of school celebration a bit sad to say goodbye, but excited for a fun summer to begin.
It’s going to be an awesome summer of swimming lessons, soccer, craft camp and Canterbury’s summer to shine program. (Of course there will be LOTS of back yard play too.) He’s already finished the first goal of his summer reading program and I can only hope the enthusiasm for the program sticks around. We are exhausted from a weekend of THREE graduation parties so I’m going to head to bed. Days still start pretty early around here! (No summer break sleeping in happening here!)
I can’t get over how big Miles has gotten this year. So many of us have said it a few times here and there, but kindergarten was most certainly the year Miles went from a little boy to a BIG boy! Goodness! (and oh my gosh, that picture of him in the grass…I just see teenage Miles all over it…and what a HANDSOME kiddo he is!)
