last days with just miles

Hi guys! I’m still here and the baby is still in my belly! I’m pretty happy about that as I am still feeling great, all things considered, (minus my HUGE feet) but I’m soaking up time with Miles and still feeling the crazy nesting urge and checking things off my to do list. I’m not ready to have the baby jussssst yet. (Please God, don’t let that jinx me!) I’m definitely moving slower these days, but I’m still hanging in there. I’m excited to meet this little girl or guy, but I’m also feeling scared too as I look ahead to delivery day and the recovery. More on that later.

For now, I’m scrambling to make sure I get Miles documented. I threw together an album of Miles’ 2009 photos and got it on order (whew!) but not before making a HUGE typo and putting his age during the year of 2009 as 3 instead of 2. DUH! I’m telling you, baby brain is REAL people!

Back to documenting Miles. This might be one of those things that only family thinks is adorable, but a few weeks ago, Miles was “reading” the book,There’s a Wocket in my Pocket, to me. No, he can’t read yet, but the kid has a crazy good memory. (He knows the words to many books and songs, including Journey’s “Faithfully,” which is hilarious to hear. I’m still trying to capture on video.) Anyway, so I recorded him “reading” it on my iphone and set it to some photos of him reading it for me again.

I never knew that at 3 and a half Miles would be able to read a book to his baby sibling when they come. Yeah for that! So here’s Miles’s voice, set to photos. Enjoy Grandma(s) and Grandpa(s)! Oh, and crank up your speakers! I just LOVE his little voice. He’s such a precious little punkin. He read this right before going to sleep, so I can tell in his voice he’s kinda sleepy.

By the way, Miles has been really excited about being a big brother. He tells everybody he meets that he’s going to be one and he’s just SURE the baby is going to be a girl. (Though every now and then he’s sure it’s a boy.) I think I’m going to be disappointing A LOT of people that want me to have a girl if it’s not! I just want to remind people that boys are pretty awesome too!

All right, I really need to get to bed and hopefully wake up with less swollen feet. Before I head to bed, I’ll post a photo from tonight just to keep things current. Here’s me, earlier this evening, right before heading out the door to my last girl’s night out before baby comes.

BTW, check out the rubber lizard on the floor in the hall. Ha! You can tell I have a boy in the house!

PS A HUGE thank you goes out to my girl Jess who lent me that rockin dress for my belly. It’s SO comfy and perfect. I wish I had ten different kinds of them.

You will be SO glad you did this! I have a recording of my (now 10-year-old) son ‘reading’ a truck book by heart when he was this age, and I admit that I love to listen to it now and again. ‘Wish I was a photographer back when he was little, though. Thanks for sharing and giving us a smile! 🙂

I’m so excited for Miles to be a big brother!! I’m with him, I’m still feeling girl-vibes 🙂 I can understand how he has that book memorized; I already have Dr.Seuss’ ABCs & Mr. Brown Can Moo down pat 🙂 Love you!! One more week!!

When my kids were younger, we had that same book on video. It was very similar, just still shots while some old guy read the book. Miles’ version is 100 times better.

Um WOW! Are you kidding me with that smart and VERY articulate kid you have there? That can’t be an easy book to memorize so I believe he’s reading it. I just have to tell you that it’s precious that you are savoring your time with just you & Miles. You’re a great mama (and a beautiful prego one at that) and I so look forward to seeing your new baby soon! God bless!

Betsy, I agree with Angela…I also believe he’s reading. He pauses at just the right moment, makes me wonder if his eyes are following the words? He’s so darn adorable!

Miles has always had the voice of an angel. These posts are always my favorite. I’ll never forget how many times I watched the Johnny Appleseed one. He’s pure heaven. Thanks for sharing, Bets.
