live from our living room

Thank you to everybody who left such kind comments today on my post about Mark. I really appreciated them.

Earlier this week John got out his euphonium because he needed a euphonium part for a piece he was orchestrating. So instead of creating it with samples on his computer, he decided to do a recording of it himself.

So here is John playing his euphonium part. The recording is on his blog: John’s blog. He also did a blog about playing with Miles. Here’s his take.

So what’s a euphonium, right? Yea, I had never heard of one either. When John was in his prime he was really good. I think he sounds great now, but he would say he is out of practice.)

Miles had never heard John play his euphonium so it was fun to see his reaction. John took requests and played the opening theme to Sesame Street, the itsy bitsy spider and twinkle, twinkle little star. Miles LOVED it.

John had a hard time playing because Miles wanted to push all the buttons.

We busted up laughing when he put his whole arm in the horn. He’s so curious!

Thanks for letting us share these. It will be interesting to see if he has any interest in music someday. I remember reading somewhere that children are like buying a package of seeds without knowing what type of flower is on the label. So who knows what Miles will be someday. I have to admit I’m dreaming of a musical kid who loves to swim (swim team, maybe?) and we are wishing more along the lines of him being a really interesting nerd than jock. Who knows what things this little guy will surprise us with. I cant’ wait to see. If life has taught me anything from experience, he will probably grow up to be exactly the opposite and it will be amazing.

nd EVERYTIME you post something new about Miles… I love him even more. I think this might be a new favorite post. John with that euphonium is HOT 🙂 You guys are the best parents.

I hope he ends up loving science so he can be a doctor 🙂 But, even if he ends up loving being an auto mechanic, I’ll adore him just the same.

    LOVE YOU GUYS!
