looking back on expecting jocelyn

This isn’t the blog post I wanted to write tonight. I wanted so badly to sit down and pour out my emotions and try to somehow put into words how much I love our sweet baby girl who turns one today. However, it’s late. I’ve been busy replying to session requests (thank you!) cleaning the kitchen, sewing pillows for our living room make over, making prints for a project for Jocelyn’s birthday party and John has been putting together Jocelyn’s play kitchen. In typical Betsy & John fashion, we are up crazy late the night before a birthday or holiday working hard to make things special for our kiddos. It’s awesome until Miles wakes us up early tomorrow morning. wink

All day long I have been watching the clock, thinking back to last summer and all the events that lead to Jocelyn’s arrival. I can’t believe we didn’t know she was a girl or a boy yet this time last year! I don’t even remember what that felt like not to know. It’s been such an amazing year that I so wish I could take this year and just live it over and over. I thought for a minute that I was baby crazy and wanted another baby, but I’m not, I just want another first year with Jocelyn!

Oh you sweet, sweet baby girl. You amaze me everyday with your beautiful and joyful heart and your determined spirit. Watching your brother fall in love with you has been so wonderful as well. Watching you grow is going to be on of my most blessed experiences, I just know it. I loved being pregnant with you and meeting you for the first time and getting to know you that first week at the hospital was such an awesome experience. I cherish my memories from her delivery, so I’m not surprised I’m thinking back on it so much.

Since my heart is struggling to stay in the moment and is yearning to look back, I’m going to post Jocelyn’s birth story again. There will be plenty of current photos of the birthday girl coming soon with all the celebrating we’ll be doing this week.

Ok, I must go to bed! Thank you for letting me gush all of my nostalgic babblings. This year was the fastest year of my life and I’m just freaking out that it’s all slipped by so fast. I guess I need to stop telling people that I, “Just had a baby.” huh?

For those of you in Fort Wayne, make sure you watch the noon news on Indiana News Center because Jocelyn’s photo will be posted during the Baby’s First Birthday photos. (You know I’ll be excitedly watching!)

Happy Birthday to Jocelyn! And the years will just keep going faster and faster, I promise. My oldest just turned 9 and my youngest just turned 4. Both seem impossible. (there’s a 7 year old in the middle too). Enjoy every moment (i’m saying this to remind myself as much as I’m saying it to you!)

Happy Birthday to that cutie! Mine are 21 and 15 and I can remember it like yesterday, the day they were born. I have to stop using the excuse “it’s baby fat” for my last 15 lbs. I need to lose!
