What makes me happiest this time of year is setting up our family manger. This is the same mange I have set up since I was a little girl and now I get to share it with my children. <3
The thing that makes me happiest is knowing we get to experience our first Christmas with my baby girl this year, even though she’s too young to know what is so special about it.
I love the anticipation…advent wreaths and calendars, decorating, shopping for others, hearing the carols play everywhere!
What makes me the happiest is seeing the huge smiles on my kiddos faces with the magic of Christmas in the air!

What makes me the happiest this time of year is having a little extra time to spend with family. Our family lives across the US and Christmas is always a time that we look forward to getting together, relaxing, laughing and sharing in life with one another.
Seeing little one’s eyes light up with anticipation is what makes me the happiest this time of year!
I’m happiest sharing special family traditions with our growing family. My middle child is now old enough to enjoy activities like decorating the tree and leaving cookies for Santa. His baby sister is still too young to really understand, but I love photographing the whole family together, knowing that the pictures will become a treasured part of our family “history.”
Seeing the unbridled anticipation and excitement in my children as they look forward to their birthdays (both in December) and Christmas is what makes me happiest this time of year!

I love this time of year for so many reasons. My first born daughter joined us (premature & healthy) so we enjoyed our first christmas with a 2 week old daughter. I love getting up early and it is still dark so we can enjoy the lights and cuddle. I love giving gifts and seeing the joy in my loves faces. After many years of female problems and over 13 surgeries I was told I would never have children! Much to the doctors surprise God blessed me with 3 perfect angels!! Watching their sweet faces with all the Christmas excitement is what makes me the happiest woman in the world!

The Christmas and holiday season is my favorite time of the year. From celebrating three of my four children’s birthdays in December to get togethers with family and friends, time with loved ones is cherished. The magic of freshly fallen snow, the twinkle of Christmas lights, the crackle of a fire, the smell of freshly baked cookies and holiday treats, and the cuddle of warmth under a blanket with a cup of hot coco all make the season one of my favorites. Happiness is gained by spreading joy through giving and sacrifice this time of year.
I am happiest when my 2 year old gets out of the bath, is all lotioned up, in her pajamas, has her blanket and we are snuggled by the fire reading a book. It happened last night and I kept squeezing her and smelling her neck. My husband and I have 4 healthy, beautiful children that are 19, 16, 14 & 2. We are enjoying the toddler age again and reminded how lucky we are!!
Traditions make me the happiest. Both old and new. I love pulling out ornaments one by one and remembering what they meant when I bought them for my kids. I love decorating, setting up my Santa collection (I have one from my kindergarten teacher that is my favorite and that’s from a LONG time ago!). I love making new traditions – like having Crab Legs for dinner on Christmas Eve. Most of all I love being together with family and friends.
What makes me the happiest at Christmas time is spending time with my girls by going Christmas Caroling. Oh my how my girls love to sing! 🙂
My family makes the happiest person in the world this time of year. I am so thankful for my beautiful children, my caring husband, and our loving extended family.
Your photos on your blog are beautiful! First of all I love to bake and make a variety of homemade chocolates/cookies. However, I only do a huge marathon baking once a year – Christmas of course! What makes me so happy is when I deliver the goodies to friends and family to see their expression of love and appreciation of what I have made for them. Then there are the random handouts of my chocolate suckers that I give to people (kids in the neighborhood, teachers, people at church etc.) and there is nothing like seeing people light up when they get one of my suckers…something so simple, brings such delight to otheres.
What makes me happiest this time of year is bringing smiles of happiness to those I treasure – family and friends! It’s the unexpected that is the most fun, I think! I am “The Perfect Elf” … it makes me especially happy to help my big kids with their teacher gifts (school and church) for my grandies! I am happiest when helping them with any other projects to make their holidays more enjoyable = happy!! It is all supposed to be fun, but it can be overwhelming when you have children … and jobs … and a never-ending to-do list! Just call Grammie – it makes me so happy helping others enjoy this wonderous, happiest time of the year!!!!
The excitement of the kids is pretty hard to beat this time of year. I do love all the holiday baking (and eating!).
There is so much that makes me happy this time of year but the buggest is celebrating my precious girls 8th birthday and 8th anniversary of her heart surgery. This time of year always makes me thankful for all the blessings in my life.
I love teaching my daughter to give! Seeing a tiny little two year old make ornaments and carefully choose her colors so Grandma will like them makes me so happy! She is learning that christmas is about giving NOT getting:)
I love being able to entertain more and giving gifts. I love being able to buy things for people that make them happy!!
I love seeing the holidays through my daughter’s eyes. When she squeals after seeing all the Christmas lights or her excitement as she anticipates Santa bringing presents–I love how she makes us all enjoy the small moments that the holidays bring.
What makes me happiest this time of year is seeing the “Christmas spirit” in all its many forms. From the excitement in the eyes of young children, to the generosity of so many, to the joy in the eyes of my parents as they celebrate all that they have created. Truly a magical time.
What makes me happiest is knowing that Jesus was the gift to us and that this baby born in a manger has brought us the gift of eternal life!!

Honestly the happiest thing so far this season was watching my oldest tell santa the 2 toys he wanted and then when promted for more saying “No that’s enough”. I was so proud to see the values we try to instill in him about needs, wants, and value to be shining through at just 3 and half.
I love seeing how much people are willing to do for others around Christmas time! It really puts you in the mood to give instead of just receive all the time.
What makes he happiest this time of year is the magic of Christmas and what it brings. It’s knowing that I get to share that magic with my daughter Ava who is five months old. It’s realizing that the magic lives on through the whole year in her smile and her amazing giggle. It’s knowing that I get to relieve the magic through her for years to come.
I love seeing all the family around together and realizing how blessed we are and how we can then be such a blessing to someone else in return! We have so much to be thankful for and it’s so exciting to share that joy with someone else.
Time with family and friends makes me happiest during the holidays. Every other year we return to my home state of FL to spend Christmas with my extended family. I’m looking forward to taking my 1 year-old (TODAY she is 1!!!) home to meet all my cousins and their children.

This time of year anything warm makes me happy…warm hugs from my kids, a nice warm Chai latte from Starbucks, a warm fireplace chat, cozying up with a blanket to stay warm. That sense of warmth at the holidays reminds me of LOVE and makes me feel so special!
Christmas always means that my family isn’t too far away, that our big bunch will soon reunite and spend quality, relaxing time together. This is what makes me happiest this time of year.
This is my most favorite time of the year because absolutely everyone is always smiling! Also, my daughter is 2 1/2 this year so she is “starting” to understand what Christmas is…. And we finally get to do the “elf on the shelf” with her… So to watch her wake up and squeal with excitement when she finds his hiding spot just make me warm and fuzzy all over! I look forward to many more years of this! Merry Christmas!!
I love Christmas lights. . . driving around looking at everyone’s hard work, with the Christmas music blaring in the car and hot chocolate for everyone in their travel mugs.

Oh..love this…Matilda Jane and Besty King…together…how fun! So, my oldest daughter started (all-day) kindergarten this year. Though she loves it, it’s rocked our world! Going some place every day, the “schedule” (which I’m not the best at) :). So, this year, what is going to make me the happiest, is having all 3 of my babies home with me over Christmas break! No schedule, PJ days, movies, crafts and cuddles! Yes, indeed.
What makes me happiest this time of year is seeing my kids experience the magic of the season. It’s like reliving my childhood through their eyes!!
I love seeing how excited my 3 children get looking at all the Christmas decorations when we drive around the neighborhood. 9 yrs ago I became a mom on 12/21. I got to go home in time to spend Christmas Eve with my family.
My kids laughter and smiles make me the happy all year round, but especially during the holidays. It’s amazing to see the wonder and amazement of the season illuminate through their smiles.
What makes me happiest this year is having all of my crazy family all on one place. Christmastime is one of the most beautiful, crazy, hectic, and amazing times of the year and I look forward to it coming around again as soon as it’s over. This year I am so excited to see how my 15-month old handles everything, he’s the sweetest boy ever and I think he’s going to just eat. it. up!

I am so happy to spend so much time with friends this time of year–driving our kids around to see the lights, stopping at the gravel tree lot for Christmas trees, going to see old fashioned carolers. It’s so good to spend it all together!
Specifically, this year, at Christmas, I am thankful for the pregnancy that I hoped for, but never expected. My life has gone from wondering, after my first, if I could ever have more children, to adding the 4th and final blessing to this family package. At Christmas, it so sweet to be thankful for Jesus, and the blessings He has provided for us. <3
I’m happiest seeing my kids’ faces light up when they experience a Christmas event….anything from the lighting of Santa downtown to a manger scene with baby Jesus in it. Christmas is so much better as a parent!! 🙂
What makes me happiest this time of year is taking part in family traditions with my own children that I did with my parents as a child. Love, love, love to see the excitement in their eyes during this season.
This is my happiest time of the year – 7 years ago I was counting down the days until my C-Section and the birth of my daughter, Emily Hope! It was a scheduled C-Section because it was a high risk pregnancy due to my age – I was 44 years old when I found out I was pregnant – close to 45 when she was born on December 14, 2004. Before the happy surprise that I was going to have a daughter, I was resigned to that fact that I would always be the favorite aunt, but never a mother! Note: Yes, I was far enough along to find out I was having a baby girl on my first visit to the OB, but that is another story! Oh, Happy Day that 6 pregnancy tests were not wrong and I had to start out with a high risk OB doc! Emily is the delight of my life and dressing her in Matilda Jane is one of my greatest pleasures in life! Every day I give thanks and I am so happy for the privilege of being her mother!
It makes me so happy to see the joy and excitement on my kid’s faces at snow, lights, treats, etc. Everything is still so exciting for them and they are really understanding more the meaning of Christmas which makes me want to cry joyful tears. It’s so precious!
I love turning off all the ‘noise’. This time of year my house is always quiet with someone huddled near the tree with a book.
What makes me happiest this Christmas is the precious baby girl that was born to us after a very rocky pregnancy. We were told I was having a miscarriage at week 10 of my pregnancy but with much prayer, the ultrasound showed a beautiful heartbeat still there! At week 24 I started going into labor, but with a LOT more prayer and 12 weeks of complete bedrest, I delivered our healthy baby girl at week 38!!! She completes our family of 5… God is so good and we can’t be more joyful this Christmas!
I am a flight medic (aeromedical evacuation) in the Air Force Reserve. The best thing about the Christmas season is bringing injured troops home just in time to celebrate with their families. Last Christmas Eve, as I flew across the country, I updated my Facebook status with “Santa” alerts. The children of my FB friends loved it.
The smell of the Christmas tree makes me happy! Seeing the Christmas wonder in my childrens’ eyes also makes me happy.
What makes me the happiest are my children. It is so challenging to be a mother, but it is so overwhelmingly joyful at the same time. You get to rediscover the world through them and you learn how to become a better person because of them. My children are my greatest blessing and the reason I smile everyday!

So what makes me happiest this time of year is sitting in my living room with a fire on a weekend morning, when the kids are distracted watching cartoons, drinking coffee and hanging out with my husband, catching up. The warmth, that cozy, lazy feeling is something that I cherish!
Bing Crosby makes me happiest this time of year. Instant nostalgia. (I would say snow does, but that’s only a theory. I’m hoping to put it to the test)
Christmas music, terrible cheesy hallmark movies, lattes and flavored coffee, time with extended family, Christmas eve service, giving the perfect gift, snowed in weekends, and it’s my sons first christmas so every new thing is the best
I think I am already signed up for the newsletter. One of the things that makes me happy is unwrapping ornaments that have been given to me by my adult children when they were small. There is one that our son made in first grade that has his pictures glued on a piece of felt inside a jar lid/ring with yarn attached to hang. When they were little I read about making an ornament for them each year and I did this for several years but then ended up buying one but they are dated and their names. Some I have passed on to them for the trees in their homes now. Others I unwrap and smile and remember…………
The thing that makes me the happiest is spending time with my grandchildren – Jocelyn and Jackson. They are truly a gift from God.

Watching my daughter understand and actually participate in the holiday traditions makes me happiest! Watching her dig Christmas ornaments out of the box and open her advent calendar brings a whole new level of excitement and anticipation to the holidays…I never know what she is going to love the most, and watching her discover the joy of Christmas is amazing!!
So far my favorite thing THIS Christmas is watching my littlest guy say “Oooo” at the lights on the tree. He doesn’t say much really so it melts my heart everytime.
So many things make me happy this time of year…the smell of pine needles filtering through my house, the joy in our little one’s eyes, the sounds of Bing Crosby, David Brickman and so many others sharing those ancient Christmas carols, and of course, I am filled with joy knowing that the greatest gift was given to us so many years ago. 🙂

I love so many things about the holidays, Christmas p.j.’s, gingerbread houses, the music and spending time with family. Most of all, I love the ornaments and handmade gifts my daughter and I make every year. This year, we have added my son into the making, if it is only getting his hand traced for those fun reindeer ornaments 🙂
This time of year the one thing that makes me happiest is my 2 1/2 year old daughter and her curiosity for all things new. Since she was too young to remember snow and Christmas last year, this year is a blessing! I can’t wait to share many more Christmas memories with her, including giving to others since that’s what it’s all about!

My favorite thing about this time of year; what makes me the absolute happiest is the fun memories I get to create with husband and kids. Also have to say it would be so fun to win something and find others to give something away to as well. That is sooo neat.

Having family together for the holidays and watching the excitement in their eyes…The last 4 yrs have been an adjustment for our family losing my Mom so just being able to be together and seeing the happiness and excitement from everyone is such a blessing to me! I’m usually a sobbing mess at Christmas for this very reason…ha!!

What I love most about Christmas is doing all the little simple things with my family–getting our tree at the local tree farm, decorating it with ornaments gifted from my grandmas and mom, baking cookies, and watching Christmas movies with the kids–some of which I watched and loved as a child!

I love seeing the true meaning (in my opinion) of Christmas being instilled in my children. I love to see my daughter sit on Santa Claus’ lap and ask for a birthday cake for Jesus. I love to see my children remembering that there are people out there who are in need and thinking of them especially during this season. It warms my heart and makes me think, “maybe just maybe I’m doing something a little bit right.”
I am happiest this time of year to be sharing my niece Wren’s first Christmas with her – it is going to be special and magical!
I absolutely love this time of year, and now that my two-year-old son is learning all about Christmas and the birth of Baby Jesus, it makes this season all the more special!

I love this time of year, as there are so many wonderful opportunities to bless others. I love to see the joy on my childrens’ faces as they open their gifts, but enjoy teaching them the joy of giving even more!
Each year I take two weeks off at Christmas to spend with my family. It is a 4 hour drive to my mom’s and we stay with her. I help make cookies, decorate and shop but most of all I get to see my sisters, nieces, and nephews and spend as much time together as we can. We have a game night, movie night and other fun things. My daughter loves to see her cousins and be spoiled by them! Being with family is the most important thing to me and I feel so blessed to be able to spend time with them!
What is there that I don’t love about this time of year! I love love love the looks on my children’s faces, the first time they spot Christmas lights, when we light our family tree, when they smell the monkey bread baking, and best of all when they come down Christmas morning!

What makes me happiest during the Christmas season is taking a break from our hectic work schedules and spending time with my kids and my out of state family. This is the one time each year that we get see to my Mom and the kids get spoiled rotten while visiting their Nana. It is a great time of year!
My kids make me happiest. Watching them experience the Christmas magic makes all of the hustle and bustle worth it. We especially enjoy our morning Elf hunts.
I nearly lost my dad several months ago to a heart attack, so this year I’m happiest just for the blessing of being able to spend Christmas with him.

In addition to all of the obvious things, like my family, the thing that makes me happiest is the magic of Christmas. The lights, the ornaments, the gift giving and seeing Christmas through a child’s eyes. Despite the cold, this is always a favorite time of year!

I would live to win a dress for ava’s friend- her daddy up and left one day- and a few weeks later she was diagnosed with jeuvenille diabetes. She has been fitted with an insulin pump now- but things are hard for her all around- her big sister (4th grader)has been so depressed about her little sister. We were using the the youngest jonas brother as an example of how kids can live with diabetes. She came to a show I had awhile back and loved all the skirts- but they just can’t afford it.
What makes me the happiest is seeing the joy that the season brings to my children. growing up i was deprived of a lot of things, so i never deny them anything during the holidays. i spoil them rotten. its the best gift of all.

This time of year is the happiest for me because I get to spend all of time with my family. Normally, my husband is out town for work, but we just had a “scare” and he had to have emergency heart surgery. He is home for quite some time now. I am very thankful he is healing and we are able to have some time with just our kids. :o)
Everything in the month of December makes me happy! I love the coldness, the presents, the childrens faces, seeing all the decorations! It is another year that I get to spend loving someone and feeling loved back. I love to give gifts and best of all to my children that I love more than anything!

What makes me happiest is opening up that huge box of ornaments and being flooded with memories of years past. My mom always bought a special ornament for us each year and I do the same for my family. That box of ornaments is a treasure and with each one I hang, I remember my hobbies and likes at that moment in my life and how it fit me perfectly the year mom gave it to me. Then, I look at my baby Stella’s ornaments and realize how fast the time is going. Christmas is the most special time or giving, loving, and enjoying special moments the entire month of December. Once my tree is decorated with those special memories, I have a smile on my face that no one can take away.

The joy of giving! I stock up all year long (let’s face it- sometimes years in advance) on gifts for family and friends. I just love to find things that will bring joy to my loved ones! We make sure to give to those in need as well: Toys for Tots, Heifer International, The Salvation Army bell ringers, etc. I just love the giving season!
Giving! I love to help others in need and this year my target is two little girls who lost there sister to child cancer in August. I would love to put a smile on there faces!
Watching my two kids, ages 5 & 1, experience the magic and joy of Christmas. I have committed to make this the most magical Christmas season ever and it has been so much fun. We are focusing on doing things as a family rather than working as hard and fast as we can to get to Christmas Day. And that makes me happy!
What makes me the happiest is seeing new things through my children’s eyes. My youngest is newly 1 and watching her face while she looks at Christmas lights, or when she saw snow for the first time just makes my heart happy!
My kids waking me up at 5am by jumping on my bed makes me the happiest. it reminds me how contagious pure happiness is and their giggling brings a smile to my face!!!!!

This time of year, the thing that makes me happiest is the excitement about season my children have and the concern they have for those who are in need. Whenever they talk about Christmas gifts and dinners they ask about those that have less and are so empathetic and caring. It makes my heart melt to see how kind children are.
I love this time of year because everyone is so giving:)
This time of year I love to enjoy the snow and cold weather. I love going sledding, building snowmen, making forts, snowballs, and even shoveling the snow. I encourage my kids to enjoy this fabulous season!
Christmas magic makes me happy! I love everything about it. Everyone is happy, children are excited and everthing is better.
Sharing with my kids the true meaning of christmas is what makes me the happiest. Showing them that Christmas is not jsut about the gifts we receive but sharing time and memories with our family,friends and celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Too many people have forgotton the true meaning of what chrstimas is all about.
This time of year I am so happy for a snow day and to be snuggled up by the fire with a good movie and my kiddos.

Exactly this, genorosity of others. I love taking angels from the angel tree and taking my kids shopping to buy things for others.My daughter was just this morning counting her money to see if she had enough money to buy a gift for her brother and sister.

What makes me the happiest? The thing that makes me the happiest this time of year is thinking how much fun my 16 month old daughter is going to have unwrapping all of her presents… Last year she was much too little, so I am extra, looking forward to her excitement this year!

What makes me happiest is helping out with my church and the Y.E.S. program. Seeing the lives of young men and women in the YES program (Youth Encouragement Services)changed and the sense of being cared about by your community when you come from such homes of dispair is life changing for me as well. I love the sense of love, community, and compassion.
What makes me the absolute happiest this time of year is my family and the joy of having them around.
I honestly love the scents through the holidays. I am a candle lover and it just makes me happy when its crisp outside, and I get to light a gingerbread/baked pie, etc candle to fill my house (and confuse my husband when he realizes there really is nothing baking) 🙂

The sparkle in my children’s eyes is the best part of the holiday season. Seeing their faces light up when we see Christmas lights, Santa Claus and hear Christmas music warms my heart. This really is the most wonderful time of the year.
My favorite thing about this year is seeing how excited my kids get to decorate the tree, look at lights, and open presents.
Happiness to me is my seeing life through my daughters eyes. She is five, is very active, and has a heart of gold. It is amazing to watch her light up as she learns she CAN tie her shoes or ride her bike without training wheels! Or when she decided to have lemonade stands to raise money to donate to different organizations. The smile on her face and her determination makes me beam! To watch her and my husband…makes me so happy and thankful to wake up each morning!

I love the generosity of people this time of year! It makes me happy. My children and I spent a few hours this afternoon ringing the bells for the salvation army. I was so humbled by the number of people who put money into that red canister – lots of $1.00 bills, but quite a few $10.00 and $20.00 bills too. It was awesome! One lady even tried to give my son a $5.00 tip! He said thank you and put it in the bucket when she left. He makes me proud!

The first big snow is usually right around Christmas, it’s so fun to see the kids light up when it snow for the first time. It’s like they’ve never seen it before. Priceless.

This is such an amazing time of the year. The majority of us are going through harder than normal times….I take pleasure in watching the excitement and belief of the season in children’s eyes. My children have surprised me by wanting to give to others and not to recieve. Watching them find pleasure in giving is going to be a memory I will cherish.

What makes me happiest this time of year? Having big family gathering and just feeling consumed by the amount of love in one place. Oh and the laughter. Nothing makes me happier than the times my family manages to get along with each other.
But this year specifically the thing that melted my heart is watching the wonder of the season through the eyes of my two year old cousin. She is grasping the concept of Christmas this year, and is just so in awe of it. From the time she exclaimed she must go to bed because it was snowing and that santa was coming, to the way she thanks you for presents (thank you, thank you, Lella! I LOVE it! I am really happiest when the whole family can snuggle by the fire with the tree on and snow falling outside. It is the perfect moment to pause and be grateful for all the blessings I have been given.

Planting my spring bulbs in my yard really make me happy around this time of year. Enjoying the soil in my hands as I plant and the happiness it brings knowing that there will be more beauty to come in March after Winter is breaking. And the fact that my 2 older girls are growing into such fun ‘garden buddies’ always brings a smile to my face and heart. So, something simple is happiness to me.

So many things make me happy-for this I am grateful. I am a mom so of course my kids and most of what they do makes me happy. But something just for me, well the feeling I get when I am on my way to a run. If I am driving somewhere for a run, I am driving down the road with a big silly grin on my face, can’t help it.
I love driving around the neighborhod with the littles and looking at Christmas lights. We pack up hot cocoa and cookies to drink and eat along the way.
I absolutely love it when I am working away in one room and I can hear my kids playing and laughing hysterically with each other in the room beside me!!
It brings me great happiness and joy simply remember the REASON for the season – Jesus

Today was our first time to buy a “real” tree. It made me so happy to see my family walking around searching for the perfect tree. It made me even more happy to see it tied to the top of our van 🙂 I am in the Christmas spirit now!!

I am a speech instructor at my local university. What I love about this time of year is that it is the close of the semester and I have seen my wonderful students grow and mature and overcome their fears. It is one of the best presents that I can receive as a teacher: the ability to see my students become the best speakers, and people, they can be!

My daughters are 2 and 3 this Christmas, and I love to see it thru their eyes…My oldest daughter thinks Santa and his elves decorate your house for Christmas, and my youngest thinks every Christmas tree is just for her. Most of all I love to share the Christmas Spirit with them…that it’s not about getting, but giving, and that’s the true meaning of Christmas. That’s what makes me the happiest.

What makes me the happiest this time of year is all the extra time I get to spend with my husband and kids. I’m a preschool teacher and my husband is military. We run at full speed ahead in different directions, all year long with four kids in two. At Christmas time we finally get to slow down, enjoy some time off from school and work and enjoy our family and Christmas.
What makes me happiest this time of year is taking the time to sit down with my kids to go through the catalogs we are inundated with and listen to all of the things they are just dying for Santa to bring.

It has to be on Chrismas Eve. We always go to the Christmas Eve service at our church with my children, just like I did growing up. I love to see the glow on my three kids faces as we sing Silent Night holding candles and knowing all the love and excitement that are behind each of their eyes.

Each year we adopt a Xmas family & it brings such an indescribable feeling to see those less fortunate get so excited to open gifts they had no idea they would even receive. My kids/family also bring so much joy just waiting for the ‘big’ day around our house. It’s just so neat to see all the excitement building until Santa arrives at our house.

Christmas time is probably my favorite time of year, the joy, everyone is a little happier and nicer. And of course the special times spent with family and this year putting up all our decorations all together was so fun, took a lot longer, like days, but great to have the girls help trim the trees.

What makes me happiest this time of year is waking up with butterflies in my stomach as my 3 children run upstairs just as I did as a little girl to see what Santa has brought and then playing all day with them.
When we were little my parents would put up a giant sheet over the doorway to the family room where the Christmas tree was. I can remember waking up and having to stand and yell for my parents to wake up because their bedroom was off of the family room and amazingly enough my brother and I never peeked (they must have scared us enough not to peek!) After they woke up they would come into the kitchen and make us eat breakfast and then open out stockings all before even being able to see what Santa had left for us!
It sounds silly but it made Christmas morning so much fun. I can remember even when my brother and I were in college us asking Mom and Dad to put the sheet up for Christmas morning and getting mad when they said no!
What makes me happiest this time of year is my kids. Seriously, they get so excited about everything. The decorations, the lights, Santa, Christmas plays, food, cookies, church, Jesus, giving gifts, getting gifts. They just go nuts about every little thing and it is a blast to watch them every day.
Getting together with all my extended family makes me so happy this time of year. Oh yea, and all the yummy food.

what makes me happiest?! spending the days leading up to Christmas baking with family. I know not everyone loves to be surrounded by family, but I am blessed with a great family on both sides. The smell of cinnamon and cloves, the sound of children laughing, and seeing all the houses lit up for Christmas.
The things that make me the happiest are the traditions that are carried down from older generations to the new. Seeing my children light up when the tree goes up, the advent calendar, making cookies, Christmas Eve, etc.
