miles’ 5th pirate birthday party!

We turned our house into a pirate world for Miles’ fifth birthday party and we all had a blast. It’s so hard to throw a birthday for lots of kids at our home in the middle of winter, so we started out with just two of his BFF’s from school. They were the cutest, most excited pirates ever. I painted a pirate for a pin the patch on the pirate game, a treasure chest game to see who could plunder the most treasure with their hook and the cutest treasure hunt led by John. (He made a treasure hunt complete with rhyming pirate speak and a pirate accent. He’s the best dad ever! Love him so much.)

So here’s a peek into our party last weekend. Our friends Ken and Erin helped decorate the house while I ran around like crazy getting all the food out. (Bless them!) Everybody was greeted with some pirate gear to wear and the adults were all great sports, especially my mom who showed up like a gypsy. Even the pugs got in on the fun.

I hated leaving out allllll of the awesome little friends we have from Kindermusik, friends of our family, etc. I’m hoping to make up for it this summer when the party can spill out to the backyard for Joss.

If you need a great resource for crazy inexpensive and VERY extensive party supplies, check out Universal Merchandise in downtown Fort Wayne. They have been there for 70 years and I had never heard of them before last week. My mom and I had a blast shopping for the party, with our favorite finds those awesome piñatas that were way too cool to break! (Miles is STILL playing with them.) Thanks mom for all your help!

Life with kids gets better year after year. I’ll never forget his first birthday when he was thrilled with a helium balloon on a string. Oh how times have changed, it just gets more and more fun!
