milessaid he’s on twitter

I’m still crazy sick. Like “NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD” kind of sick. I’m in gross sweats, I have the remnants of sticky infant Tylenol matted in my hair and a red chapped nose. I’m the opposite of fabulous. Jocelyn is super sick as well, so over the past week, when all we felt like doing was just hold each other while goo runs from our faces, we’ve sat at the computer while I chipped away at a blog post. Five days later, here it is. Enjoy.

John and I are on Twitter and we really enjoy it. (Ok, I enjoy it a lot more than John does.) For people who work from home, or are stay at home parents, it’s like a virtual water cooler to chat, share or even vent. (It’s a happier place than Facebook where the crowd is so big there that feelings tend to get hurt.) Yea, Twitter can be a place to express your thoughts every second of the day, if you wish, but it’s also something you can use to archive certain thoughts. I have a friend who is doing a weight loss challenge on her blog and she is using twitter account as a place for everyone in the group to motivate each other. Genius, huh?

Well, other than our personal twitter accounts, John and I are using twitter to archive all the funny, interesting and sometimes surprisingly deep things that Miles says. Life moves so quickly that if we don’t stop and write things down, they will escape our brain forever. (I feel like Ferris Bueller said something very similar to that…) So we opened a twitter account called Milessaid to keep his quotes in our brains forever.

We don’t add to it often, sometimes weeks will go by without anything added, but we LOVE to go back and read them. Even Miles enjoys hearing the cute and funny things he says. My rule, when posting Miles’ tweets, is that I don’t change what he says. I try not to post conversations between the two of us either. I don’t want to clutter up the feed with lots of explaining. My hope is to make this into a book someday for all of us to look back on. We haven’t even been doing this for a year now and we are already so thankful to have such a cute archive of his thoughts. Yay for the internet!

Here are some of my favorite “Milessaid” tweets:

So that’s how we are trying to bottle up a little bit of our guy Miles before we blink our eyes and he’s off to college.

If you would like to keep up with what Miles says, you can find him HERE.

I’m always excited to see a milessaid tweet in my feed 🙂 One of my all-time favorites is, “Be careful not to get sunscreen on my bathing suit or it will stain. That’s because of the electricity.”

He is going to LOVE reading these someday.

AWE, I love following Miles on Twitter. He does say the greatest things. And I love that it’s like a little memory book of his quotes.

This is just brilliant. I’ve fallen in blog-love with your children. They’re making people happy all over the country (world, perhaps?) and they don’t even realize it.

Love those quotes and what a BRILLIANT way to keep track of them! I do a little column on my blog called “Life Moves Fast” based on that infamous quote. Here it is: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” –Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

IT’s a great idea – I wish I used my twitter feed more like that – it really is like an awesome notepad that’s pretty easy to access at any time. 🙂

oh – and I REALLY missed twitter after I quit! Facebook – I have never even felt one tiny, single shred of regret from deleting my personal account. See ya out there in twitterland.

this is hilarious!!! oh my, the things that come out of his mouth, he’s a sweetie! (and what a fantastic way to remember all these awesome little one-liners – much better than your average scrapbook!)

This is a wonderful idea! I don’t normally comment, but I had to on this one. I am definitely going to do this when my little girl starts talking! BTW — your blog has really helped me prepare for our second daughter. I have a 9-month-old and am due with number two in mid-May. I was very concerned about the transition from one to two (since it really caught us by surprise!) and it’s nice to know that others feel the same things. I also love to see how well the Kings are doing now as a family of four instead of three. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

This is such a great idea! I keep saying someday I’ll make a photo book with all the funny things my kids say. Problem is I rarely write them down, other than sometimes on FB posts. Thanks for sharing – so cute!

Awwww, I just love what 3 year olds say! I’ve got one myself and I’m trying to write things down in his baby book. The special kind of Target like Disney World is genius! What spunky guy you have!
