monkey mookin around

Tonight, as I was squeezing my little guy, his precious little face looked like a “monkey mook” to me. I can’t explain it, he just did. I’m weird like that. I named my dogs, “Whisper” and “Stamp” so weird names come to me often. (Though I have to say that Andy totally helped me name those dogs. I thought Whisper was a dumb name, but who is going to deny a guy with cancer the right to name his dog? Thank goodness, because that name totally fits her. But I digress….) Anyway, so I’m telling Miles he is a “Monkey Mook” and he is laughing and laughing and thinks it’s hilarious. As I was reading a story to him, out of nowhere he says in his little chipmunk voice, “Monkey mook!” and cracks up laughing. Oh how I love my little guy! I had to force myself to put him in bed instead of keeping him up to selfishly play with him in his sleepy slap happy state.

So here’s some monkey mooking around in our lightless cave of a nursery.

Anybody notice that Miles’ smile is EXACTLY like John’s?

Let’s head out of the nursery down to our freshly painted kitchen.

Behold, a peek into a very rare thing in the King household: a finished project!

I’m a sucker for vintage kitchen canisters. I just found that tea pot at a garage sale downtown last month. We were driving down Jefferson and I spotted it on a table on the sidewalk and I said, “Stop the car!” My sweetie of a husband hit the brakes and I jumped out to get it. I love that he is always game for whatever I throw out next. (Like starting a photography business….)

Here is THE ONLY plant that thrives in my presence. It’s like a mini palm tree and is very wispy and dramatic. When I first got it, I assumed it would just die so I was going to glue google eyes and a nose on it (since it has that crazy hair like foliage on top.) I had a feeling it might be around a while, so I spared it the humiliation. I think my thanks for not doing that to it is that it has the will to live.

So here’s our kitchen. That stupid cable box kills me. Dang it, watching Dharma & Greg when I do the dishes at 11 AM and the music channels are what makes it ok to have that god awful thing on my counter top. Yes, I could mount it all to my cabinets, but I’ll still have black cable spaghetti all over the place.

Look at that big ‘ol blank wall. I have some ideas brewing…

Nighty night everybody. It’s almost midnight and I’m going to bed early! No 3 AM night of working for me!!

Keep on scrolling, I just posted Shelby’s slideshow tonight.

Love your kitchen! All that stainless and a kitchen aid too, did I mention I hate you? LOL, our next house we’ll personalize this one is soon to be a rental so we kept the drab builder grade stuff. Monkey mook, he says that? How cute, Lydia says “blast off” with so much tongue and lip and spit it isn’t even funny, a regular Elmer Fudd. Good times, livin’ the dream!

    Love the kitchen color! Beautiful.

So I have a confession. I am in love with Miles. It’s just not right to think a strangers kids are as cute as your own. But I do. I just want to gobble up those cheeks. He’s at such a fun age. i just love reading about all Miles antics knowing Zeke will be there soon. What fun.

I love your kitchen! I have a desire for antique pots and pans. Flea markets are heaven sent. Oh, and definitely with you on weird names…my cat is named Mische (me-she). And I grew up in a family where my grandmother named me Whoisit (whosit), and my fathers nick name was steffy-weffy-poopoo butt. I love it, and I know Miles will love your nickname for him.

Hey Betsy! It was so great meeting you at the Free to Succeed Tour! Am I allowed to say that you are just so cute & bubbly? Haha…you seem to have such an infectious personality 🙂 Your kitchen looks amazing by the way! I just finished painting 2 rooms in my house as well – it feels great, doesn’t it?

I so love your kitchen! thanks for continuing to post your home improvement projects. They help inspire me, and your discussion of choosing large canvasses is really helpful. You actually motivated me to get an 8×10 instead of a 5×7 as the largest size photo when I ordered some recent prints. Now I just have to get brave and order an 11×17….. but before I do that I need to get a good photo. Any chance you’ll post some tips for getting good shots of babies with point-and-shoot cameras? (there are probably tons of links out there, I’ll do my own googling… but I do love the way you talk about and explain things, so I’m throwing that out there!) Stephanie

Bets I love the color! It looks great. It’s rare for me to see a post on your blog that doesn’t have people in it. You do a great job with or without them!
