more of the zoo halloween, in dark & light

Last week when we went to the zoo halloween, I took my camera with me, fully knowing it would be totally dark out. I figured, “Hey, we’ll see what I can get with my ISO cranked all the way up and my aperture opened all the way”.” Our awesome friend Chris came with us and had me borrow his flash for a bit, but flash isn’t my thing, so I just tried to get what I could with the little bit of available light there was. So keep that in mind as I share these photos.

First of all, you walk into the zoo halloween and the paths are lined with hundreds of pumpkins, that were carved by volunteers. For a Halloween junkie like me, it’s MAGICAL!

The first thing Miles did was lift the lid of the first pumpkin he could find and said, “Hey, there’s a light in there!” Then he proceeded to check each and every pumpkin, for a light. (Yea, we kind of slowed down the line quite a bit!) It was so cute, my heart was BURSTING.

The theme this year at the zoo was kid’s movies, so they had these scenes set up out of pumpkins to depict different kid’s movies. This one was for the movie, Up. Isn’t that awesome!?

The zoo’s aquarium was open that evening, so we popped in for a little jellyfish watching.

So now that you see what I took with no flash, in the dark, here’s what our friend Chris took with his flash on. He totally captured how much fun we had that night.

How hilariously happy are my boys? They were playing with Chris in the strobe lit tunnel.

Miles totally skipped the baby corn maze for the big kid’s maze. We ran through it over and over. I’ll let you guess how Miles felt about the maze. 😉

Hope you are all enjoying Halloween week! I’m trying to soak up as much of my favorite time of year that I can and I’m definitely looking forward to the next three days of preschool’s fall festival, Miles dressing up for Kindermusik’s Halloween class and of course, the big day, HALLOWEEN!
