my cabbage patch kid

My little Cabbage Patch doll is two months old now. I’m so crazy in love with her.

Cabbagepatch

So it’s been two months. Wow. It feels like just yesterday Jocelyn came into our life but at the same time these past two months could have easily been confused with a whole year going by. Whew! We’ve been working our butts off these past couple of months! I’m settling into my new role as a mom of two more and more each day and Miles has come a long way in his new role as well. I remember after Miles was born it took about four months for me to start feeling like myself again. Thankfully, this time, I have cut that time in half. As I carried the vacuum up the stairs today I stood in amazement at the top at how just two months ago I had pretty major surgery for Jocelyn to be born. Modern medicine is truly amazing that I’m feeling so great just two months later (and have been feeling well for weeks.) So yea to that! Plus, I struggled with depression after Miles was born and the cloud that lingered over his newborn days was really rough on me. (A really harsh winter the year he was born didn’t help.) I haven’t been depressed this time around and it’s been an amazing blessing. (Again, the weather REALLY helps. It’s been beautiful out these past two months.) Everybody said the transition from one kid to two would be really hard. (So much so, it really scared the crap out of me my last couple of months of my pregnancy.) That is true, it’s a pretty drastic change, however not struggling with the postpartum depression and absolutely debilitating c-section complications that I had after Miles’ birth have made this second time around so much easier. Another great thing about your second child is you realize that if you hit a rough patch, like painful nursing, a crying jag or even something as simple as baby acne, you realize those wise words from Winnie the Poo are so true, “This too shall pass.” It seems so obvious, but with your first baby you seriously think the hard times are the way it’s going to be FOREVER. Yippee for lessons learned along the way. 🙂

Another awesome thing about the two month mark is that little Miss Jocelyn has been sleeping through the night and going to bed at a regular bedtime. Wow to THAT!! Granted, I’m nursing A LOT during the day and most of the evening, so I’m still working very hard, I just think she’s packing it all in during the day. I’m knocking on wood big time though that I’m not jinxing myself by announcing that she’s sleeping through the night. From what I recall with the first year of life with Miles is that once you settle into a routine, things change. So I’m just enjoying this whole sleeping through the night business while it lasts.

That’s the latest on the baby front. I have been getting lots of emails asking when I’ll be off my maternity leave and shooting again. (Thank you all for wondering.) I must admit, I do miss shooting seniors, but this time in my life will only come once and my children will only be this small once. It’s just not time yet and I’m still not sure when the time will be right. I’ll keep everybody posted when I am ready. Thanks for understanding.

All-knowing and infinitely-wise Pooh. 🙂 SO happy you’re doing so well this time around! She is SO smooshy. I can’t wait to see her again in a few weeks! (Oh, yeah, and you, too, of course 🙂 )

She’s all bundled and cute! It’s fun for me to read about your new mom journey. I hope you and the hubs are getting out for date nights. I babysit a 3 month old and 2 yr old (baby girl and big boy) Wed nights for their parents to have their date nights. I think it’s more of a blessing for me than it is them! So amazing to see how fast babies grow – cooing, laughing. I just love it!

What a doll baby!! Glad you are adjusting well. I just had my 2nd (boy) 5 weeks ago and my oldest turns 3 this weekend. So when I read your blog, I feel I’m reading my own bio! ;o) p.s. don’t feel bad about putting photography second…our precious babes are little for such a short time. Enjoy!
