myrtle beach: sand and swim

I’m every so slowly starting to come out from the mountian of laundry and left over exhausted haze from our trip to Myrtle Beach to unearth some photos to share. It was a trip with my inlaws, so I’ll be sharing some pics of them, but today, these are just some pics of our little family of four in action.

We drove our awesome van over the course of two days and stayed overnight somewhere I can barely remember. We love hotels. If you put bedbugs out of your mind, it’s heaven. Especially when they have free breakfast. Hampton Inn forever!

Miles LOVED the beach. The second he set foot on the sand he took off running with wild abandon. He was like the Forest Gump of Myrtle Beach. He would have just ran and ran and ran for states, it seemed, if we had we let him.

His favorite thing was fighting the waves.

Joss and I got in on the fun too. Yes, those are biker shorts I’m wearing. They are the most comfortable thing in the universe. I picked up a pair to wear under dresses last summer when I was prego and never looked back. They were nice for a morning walk when I didn’t want to wear a suit, but it was too warm for yoga pants.

Joss was a sweet punkin on the trip and enjoyed falling asleep in the carrier when we took morning walks on the beach. My Beco carrier is the best.

There were all sorts of teeny tiny clams, shells and hermit crabs to explore in the sand. Notice how Myrtle Beach has that pretty shiny sand that makes reflections.

Jocelyn did play on the beach, but those photos are for another day. The pool was where she REALLY had a blast.

Ok, so I tweeted for about a month straight how I was looking for a bathing suit to wear while on vacation. I ended up buying 16 pieces of suits online (not joking) and none of them fit right. (The credit card was thrilled to see that return go through.) So I ended up pulling out the black Calvin Klein bikini that I bought five years ago from the bottom of my bathing suit drawer. Guess I should have looked there first! It wasn’t perfect, but what bathing suit is?

Oh and my hair is growing back into all these crazy short wisps around my head so that scarf is my new look I’ve started wearing everyday. I need to find more long, light weight rectangle scarves though as I’ve been wearing that one A LOT lately. Anybody see any good ones lately? This too was plucked from the bottom of my accessory box from a handful of years ago.

Thanks for taking a look at a bit of our vacation. I’ll be sharing more soon.

Looks like a fun trip! I know you posted these pics to show off your kiddos – BUT – O.M.G. did you really have TWO babies with that body?! Seriously girl, you look amazing!

Looks like you had a great time! I agree with Joss, the pool is more fun! P.S. I like your old bathing suit. It’s cute!

Dude, your body is killing me! I’d wear a bikini all the time if I looked like you 🙂 Also, Jossy’s hat is too cute. Looks like you had a great time & I can’t wait to see the rest of your pictures!

You are one HOT beach mama! And I love that John is rocking a Wild Cats tee. SO happy you had such a great time!!

Thanks guys! I swear, it’s just the nursing that is helping my body out right now.

Honestly Betsy, you look amazing. Nursing, doesnt give you toned arms and a flat toned stomach! I have one kid and I look like a plum! WTH?!

Wow! I’m going with the trend…how do you have that body after two babies? Tell me exactly what you eat and when, because I’m nursing too but my body doesn’t look anything like that! Love John and Miles playing in the waves. Oliver is the same way, no fear at all…however, the pool freaks him out. Strange child of mine. Where did you stay in M.B. doesn’t look as touristy/redneck as some areas? 😉

P.S. I’m stealing your scarf trend for when I don’t have time to go get my hair colored so I can hide my roots. So cute!

Holy crap, you look good Betsy! And I’m so glad to see this solution for the weird whispy hairs you say you’ve got. I’ve got the same thing happening from my post-baby hairloss. SO awful. I had never heard about the hairloss before becoming a mama.

Hey Bets – so glad you all had a blast. Isn’t it the best feeling watching your children see the ocean for the first time. My girls first ‘real’ vacation was to Myrtle Beach and Allyson’s response to the ocean was, ‘where is the other side’. Glad you had a fun with the family.

I second Jenna! Seriously? You look AMAZING!! Any bathing suit would suit you ; ) If you have a Marshalls where you live, check there for scarves, they have an awesome selection and the prices won’t break your bank : ) I hated those barely there patches of hair and whispy’s after all three of my kiddos! I wish I would’ve thought of a scarf : D
