playing with light

What a day! Miles went to go play at my neighbor’s house this morning and I cleaned for 3 hours straight. (This rarely happens, as I usually have to just clean in little bursts when I can.) That felt great, but even after cleaning for 3 hours I still didn’t get to the whole house. Jeez Louise, guess my house was pretttttty bad. Opps.

Anyway, it was raining like crazy today and as they say, when it rains, it pours. I had that kind of day, but pouring full of good stuff.

Here’s what made my day super full:I had a major clean-fest, got some drafts from my graphic designer, (Ryan, YOU ROCK!) some new software showed up on my step AND our good friend lent me a soft box to to play around with some studio lighting. I’m an on-location, natural light photographer, but this year lighting is something I be branching out and experimenting with. Our dark rainy day was the perfect time to bust out the light.

So while Miles took his afternoon nap, I grabbed John for a fun little shoot. (He needs a photo for his website anyway, so we weren’t totally just playing around.) As I was adjusting the light, Stamp was whining to get in on the action. John was trying to nail Stamp’s subtle head tilt. I think Stamp is just ADORABLE here.

Stamp wasn’t too thrilled, but I kicked her out of the shoot and added a blazer and scarf. Isn’t my hubby so patient to let me play dress up and photoshoot?

Ok, so since it’s just us and we were playing around, I decided to process this photo to portray John’s personality. He is such a calming and cool person so I see greens and blues in his spirit. So that’s what I did with this photo.

I was curious what I looked like with the lighting and John wanted to play, so here’s a shot of me. (It’s the least I can do after posting so many of him.) Remember, I had been cleaning for 3 hours with no eye make up! Also, I smeared some Vaseline on my lips before he shot me and it’s hilariously outside the “lines.” and yes, that is the hat I wear to hide bad hair days.

Alright, well, you know what’s coming, some Miles photos with my fun new light, and I have a feeling the pugs will want to get in on the action as well. Oh, and in other news, when our friend Chris brought over the light to lend us, he also gave Miles a little basketball and football. I kid you not, the balls went into his hands at 9:30 AM and he is currently sleeping with them. They haven’t left his sight since. Man, he is passionate about toys.

Nighty night everybody!

Now, with that said . . . the pic of John holding Stamp could SERIOUSLY win one of those contests titled, “Does your pet look like you?” Tell John to please take this as a compliment;) He just did too good of a Stamp pose and then it seemed like they started looking alike! CUTE! CUTE! CUTE! Bye;)
