proof i have a life (sometimes)

A while back I had a very rare and much overdue little weekend getaway with some very awesome friends of mine, Jess, Gail and Bobbi. Look at us, we are like chocolate, vanilla and strawberry with our rainbow of hair colors. So beautiful!

Photog Girls

We had all been up late the night before with Gail, Bobbi and I up until FIVE AM talking non-stop. (No, we didn’t freeze Jess’s bra, though she had it coming going to sleep first!) Yes, staying up all night was VERY irresponsible of me to do as I was in my first trimester, but I did nap a bit that evening. Though I hated missing out on all the juicy conversations! I think we are looking pretty awesome considering we were all feeling like a hot mess that next afternoon after staying up all night. (I had a terrible cold brewing and promptly passed it to Gail like a true friend would. I have to say, traveling despite my illness was totally worth it for the girl time!)

We all met through the photography world as we are all photographers, though I’m the only one that doesn’t do weddings so I stand amazed at their ability to work 16 hour days! We have the most amazing conversations that can cover logos, clients, husbands, music, vendors, movies, fashion, kids and cameras all within the same five minutes and knowing us, the same breath. It’s a pretty awesome blend of friendship.

So none of these girls live in Fort Wayne with me. This is so my life story, that my dearest friends I have the most in common with are living in Indy, Ohio, Michigan, Maryland, Southern Illinois (AMY I MISS YOU SO MUCH I COULD DIE!!!) or even California (LAURA, my soul sister. When will I see you again!?). One of my wishes I always wish is that I could create my own perfect street with all my dearest friends and we could all have coffee together in the morning and borrow sugar from each other at 9:30 at night when I want to make chocolate chip cookies. (I grew up in a sugar borrowing street and haven’t managed to move into another one yet. We borrowed a drill from our neighbors once at 8 PM and they looked at us like we were deranged.)

When I get together with this rainbow headed pack of girls the talking never stops. The stories of the paths that brought each of us to where we are now never cease to amaze me. We are all so different, but so alike in so many ways. These are some pretty amazing and mind blowingly talented women. I feel so blessed they are in my life. (And these guys are friends with ME? How did I get so lucky?!)

So to Jess, Gail and Bobbi, I thank you for the tweets, emails, IM’s, photo shoots now and then and of course, marathon coffee sessions and slumber parties with deep talks until sunrise. You have enriched my life and given me a wonderful support system for all facets in my life, not just photography related breakdowns and triumphs. As the wedding season approaches, I probably won’t see much of you guys again until next winter, at least in real life. So cheers to you and the winter months that allows us to catch our breath and get caught up on some girl time. Until next winter, I’ll see you on the internet dolls!

PS Cheers also to Jess’s hubby, Brett and for my my hubby for staying home with boys who ended up getting sick while we were gone. Bless you guys!
