self portrait series: july

So did anybody notice that I didn’t do a July self portrait? You know, I rarely do year long projects for fear that I”ll drop out half way through and feel like a huge loser. Well, I’m not dropping out, just submitting a bit late. You see, July was INSANITY. It was chocked full of super fun and exciting things, but total busy insanity. I could have dreamed up a million creative ways to take my July self portrait, but there wasn’t any time for that. Instead, I grabbed some photos I took of myself and a tiny bit of my life from my iphone, during the month of July.

So here’s what’s happening in the photos shown above:

So much fun in the Target dressing room with Jocelyn. She is so enamored with babies that she was kissing the mirror.

Happy lunch with my cuties to celebrate Miles’ last swimming lesson.

My first shoot for this year. I was dressed a little casually, being in a romper, but considering I ended up standing crotch-deep in a lake, it was the perfect outfit. (Can you guys all please excuse the fact that I just used the word “crotch?” (twice) Thank you.)

Lots of grocery runs. Miles insists on sitting in the cart, crushing the bread and sometimes dozing amongst the toilet paper and wheat thins.

Loving on my baby girl any time she slows down enough for me to catch her. By August she is so fast that she’s on top of the kitchen table before I even realize she’s IN the kitchen. July was the month I got to really snuggle her before she realized how much freedom she has. (Can I have July over again?)

Cramming my two massive living room chairs into the back of my sweet van. They were re-upholstered for my living room make over and because of a couple of fabric snafus I feel like I drove to the chair guy’s place, which was 40 minutes away, what felt like a million times. They turned out GORGEOUS though. (They aren’t red anymore!!) I am dying to share them, but the reveal is still awaiting to be released from the sponsors.

Lots of crazy hair days where it was so hot and humid, I didn’t even dream of doing anything to my hair.

I did get out a couple of times to some grown up events! Look at my hair all done! Miles told me he loved that feather dress so much that he hoped I would keep it forever. (Awwww!)

Not pictured:

Piano painting craziness, birthday celebrating, party prepping, and living room make over photo shoot all in the same day! (I’m not kidding.) Art fairs, movies, lake and pool swimming and great babysitters in my life. Hot dogs and chips, baseball games, Slip N Slides, water balloons and walking the pugs on hot summer nights. Such good stuff.

I better shush and get on August’s self portrait so I don’t have to apologize for being late again!

Better late than never! Your self portrait posts inspired me a few months back to start my own. Hopefully my kiddos can remember what I looked like way back when since it always seems to be me behind the camera. I’ve also gotten my husband to start taking some photos of me with the kids too. Awesome!

It HAS been a busy summer, hasn’t it? I look back at the last two months and think, “Really, I crammed all that in there? Whoa.”

Can’t imagine doing that with two in tow!

PS – I really respect that you never complain about grocery shopping with two kids. I know how hard it is from family members! Hats off to you friend!

I’m not a mother, yet but the other day while grocery shopping, I wondered how mother’s shopped with kids without getting the bread squished & eggs damaged. So when I read this I was dying laughing. I feel like the carts aren’t big enough to hold all of the food & then kids on top of that. Soooo funny! 🙂
