self portrait series: november

November was all about keeping my head above water. Traveling twice in five weeks with our kiddos with two holidays sandwiched in between, plus some illnesses, made me just happy that we all arrived where we needed to be, fed and dressed through all it all. I honestly can’t say I remember much about this past month other than our trip to Puerto Rico. Even though traveling is always hectic, the one thing we do really love about traveling it that we just get to really enjoy and BE with our kids. You just have to know that a vacation with kids is not going to be relaxing (AT ALL) but you do get to soak up the people you love more than usual and in a beautiful setting, experiencing new things.

Speaking of enjoying time together, every day one of us would have to go up to the hotel room while Jocelyn napped. Since John was busy with his friend’s wedding prep, that was me for the first few days. On the day after the wedding, John stayed up in the room while I snuck out and snorkeled a bit and hung out by the pool. Yea, that should sound like pure bliss, but as I snorkeled and hung out by the pool, I realized that it’s just not fun without sharing it with people you love. I offered John some solo snorkling time the next day, but he decided it wouldn’t be fun without me either. (Awwww!) So this photo isn’t so much about me relaxing, as it might seem, but more about just soaking up this time with my family standing by the ocean with nothing to do but enjoy each other and the view.

Here’s us reflected in an elevator door at our hotel in Puerto Rico with our newly married friend Chris. (Yay!)
