visiting baby francis

I met Allison ages ago during a short stint as a barista at a now gone local coffee shop. I was just then emerging from my time off of working after losing my husband and decided to work at my favorite coffee shop to get back into the world. Allison was still a kid back then and was a bright spot in those weird days of reentering the world with shaking emotional footing. Years went by and I would see her at my hair salon as she had graduated from beauty school. I would always be excited to see her and finally she became my hair stylist a couple years ago. I LOVE getting my hair done because it’s like meeting a friend for coffee as we talk about everything under the sun and it’s honestly sometimes my only child free adult interaction I get sometimes. (I know it’s still work for Allison! But for me, it’s like hanging with a friend.) With the help of Facebook and Twitter I grew closer to her and even got texts during her birth on how things were going.

I was so excited to come visit her and meet little baby boy Francis. She’s such a natural mother. She went home just hours after giving birth at a birthing center and looks so relaxed and at ease in her new role. It’s almost like she’s an entirely different specifies than the freaked out mess I was when I had my first baby! 😉

I brought my camera just in case I would be able to take some photos and had a great time capturing this time for Allison. Oh and it’s always good for me to be reminded that you can actually take photos outside of a studio in the winter time. 😉

Baby Frank has this cutest (and loudest!) little squeeks and grunts that he makes. Allison’s sister had told me he was like their own little percolating pug and she wasn’t kidding. It’s adorable.

Winter babies mean you get to bundle them up and just hold them while you watch the snow fall outside. Doesn’t he look so comfy on that cloud of a bed and those fuzzy socks?

Much love and congratulations to you sweet Allison! Thanks for letting me get my baby fix last week. You and baby Francis are just beautiful.

PS The posing for this shoot was inspired by my own newborn shoot from my good friend Bobbi Sheridan of Bobbi + Mike. Momma’s cuddling with their babies is such a beautiful thing.
