wall project done! (for now….)

Had to throw a quickie update on the blog on my living room wall project.

John is awesome. He just hung these this morning and Miles is awesome because he slept through the banging of his hammering.

It was a rainy morning, so not a lot of light to photograph these, but you get the idea. I think I’ll be adding more later, but considering I spend the majority of my time focused on other people’s family photos, I’m really proud of myself for finally getting some of us on the wall! Oh and that pesky yellow built in smoke alarm is annoying. Oh well, just had to work around it. I need some funky stuff to put on top my china cabinet. I’m such a minimalist that I’m kind of clueless. Erin and Holly, I need your help! (They are my decorating gurus.)

So this is a 16X24 print in a standard 24X30 inch opening frame. I picked a nice thick white matte and had them custom cut it so they would all match. I really wish I had purchased a bigger print (or a canvas) and done a custom frame, but I have been swamped and was going for more instant gratification and keeping it on the less expensive side. Custom frames can be like buying a piece of furniture, so that’s for down the road. I think black frames and white mattes are classic, so I shouldn’t feel so bad splurging on good frames in the size exactly I want. So lesson learned for my next project. Man, the more I look at it the more that photo is screaming, “I want to be bigger!” Sometimes it’s just so hard to visualize how big a photo should be before you order it.

The small prints (taken by me) are just 5X7 prints in an 8X10 inch opening frame. I could have bought ready made mattes, but I wanted them to match and had them cut as well. The larger vertical one is a 12X18 print in a 17.5X23.5 inch opening frame.

All of the prints were printed by my professional lab. I have mannnnnny print sizes available, more than are just listed on my website, so as always, if you are interested in an unusual print size, just let me know and I’ll give you a quote.

Oh and of course, the two large prints were photos from our photo shoot with Bobbi + Mike last fall. (I had prints made long ago, but nothing big.) I can still see myself going bigger, but for now, these will do. I have some ideas for things to add, but I need to be done on my own photos for now and focus on my work projects.

Happy rainy sunday to you! The sun just came out so it’s time to get off the computer!!!

PS I tried a yellow sample on my kitchen wall last night. I’m just not loving it, so if anybody has a creamy yellow kitchen that they LOVE. Comment me the brand name and paint number or name please! I STINK at choosing paint colors!!!

New blogstalker here! My husband and I just painted our dining area yellow, and I love how creamy it is, so I thought I’d give you a suggestion. Valspar paint from Lowes… the color name is Champagne Tickle. It looks really light on the swatch, but once it covers a whole room it adds a nice subtle creamy yellow. Ok– back to editing pictures. =)
