yarn shoppe kids

Sorry for the craziness on the blog over the last couple of days. We really try to do maintenance during off peak times, but we had an emergency that made us change servers. (We still have more work to do, so expect another black out soon.) So I apologize to those of you who couldn’t get to your images on Friday. The blog has had cobwebs this week too as I have been FLAT on my back with a super fun stomach flu. I finally left the house yesterday and was back to being laid up last night. Man, this one is a DOOZY! Today I am working to getting back into the swing of things. So let’s start that off with a fresh new blog.

Early last summer I blogged about Sarah Jane’s Yarn Shoppe’, because I thought it was so cute and had to spread the word. Well, one of the owners, Lori, is so sweet that we hit it off right away and started chatting. Before I knew it, she was knitting Miles a hat and had me booked for a fall shoot. Starting our photography business has opened my eyes to so many new and creative people here in Fort Wayne (and beyond.) It has really given me a new sense of appreciation for Fort Wayne and I’ve met some really great people! (Not to mention gotten back in touch with lots of people from my past as well.) I’m so happy that I can now add Lori and her family to that list.

If my memory serves me, I think I recall Lori telling me that her kids weren’t big fans of getting their photo taken. Um, do these kids look like they have a problem with the camera? Look at those model struts! Seriously, I just asked them to walk toward me and they gave me so much personality. They CRACKED me up. 😀

This one has Christmas card written all over it. Of course, since she owns a yarn shop, the kids had to bust out some some of their favorite hats.

…or this one! 😉

I tried some experimental shots in the garage to get away from the snow for a bit.

I’ve been wanting to have the chance to try a garage shoot since you can get some great light coming in, but if the garage is deep enough, the background is super dark. I needed to have lots of tricks up my sleeve now that the sun sets at 5:30. Ugh! Isn’t it funny how kids want to still wear shorts in the winter? I was TOTALLY nerded out with like 4 layers of clothes on and ear muffs!

We were all done with the shoot, warming up inside, and I convinced Mom & Dad to hop outside for a quick shot of them together. Aren’t they adorable snuggling up in the snow? They just got back from a child-free vacation, so I’m kind of hating them with their tans! Though Dad swears his tan is all gone. (Whatever!)

Then we figured, oh, let’s get a whole family shot as well, but mind you, it’s snowing, the kids were freezing, the light was fading fast, so we did this one in about 2 seconds. The kids did a great job bringing on the snuggling.

With their sneak peek out of the way, I HAVE to share some photos from the Sarah Jane’s Yarn Shoppe Blog. I didn’t take these, I totally stole them from her blog. I HAD to show you all the insanely fun things they have/make at her shop! They have these adorable little knitted play food that Miles always eyes when we pop into the shoppe. (Sadly, my pop-ins have been only photography related, but I’m hoping over my winter break I can do some actual knitting. Fingers crossed!!) Oh man, that blue beret has my name allll over it. I wonder how hard that is to make?

Look at how cute their little doggie Dwayne is to model a hat, and if you look behind them, you’ll see how super cute that shop is and you might even spy a knitted cupcake and knitted mug of hot chocolate. Adorable.

Gotta run, I have TONS to do today to get caught up on as I rejoin the world of the living. I do have to say, even though I was feeling yucky this week as I processed these, the photos still managed to make me smile. Hope they made you smile too!
