my workshop experience

I went to a photography workshop this past spring (anybody remember me twittering about that NON-STOP at the end of April?) and I have never blogged about my experience. Honestly, I tried to sit down and write about it, but I just babbled on and on, so I hit delete. Instead of me babbling, I’m…

These are beautiful Bets. I love the studio lighting too, and we’ve been talking about incorporating some but we’re not sure. Love these, and I think you would do great if you worked this in to your “studio.”

I had to laugh about the Miles comment, because Gabe is naked CONSTANTLY! I took the funniest photos of him running around playing soccer outside with Brett and his siblings, and he was working that birthday suit. πŸ˜‰ love ya gal.

I love them. They aren’t the cookie cutter studio images. Dynamic lighting. I, as well, am looking into studio options since people seem to insist in getting married in winter. Need alternatives in case of hail, sleet, and blizzards.

Yeah, mine too. About the nude. He’s potty training and everytime Eric comes home he ask me to put underwear on him. And then he pee’s in them. Naked is better. FYI – if you were going to post cute nude pictures be careful people can hack them and post them on child pornography sites. Scary. I saw a lawyer show that almost put the dad in jail cause he posted pictures of his kid in the tub.

Since you asked… πŸ˜‰ I’m not a fan of “studio shots” because of what I picture from the past. You know, the Olan Mills family shots of our youth. Harsh, unnatural. I know you know. And as a photographer I’ve been guilty of saying “I don’t have any interest in studio set-ups, lighting, etc.” However that has changed for me and your images are the perfect example of why. There is a way to do studio that is GORGEOUS (your images) and I would LOVE to learn how to do that… especially since I live in Washington State and can’t count on great weather for outdoor shots year round.

  • ToriAugust 20, 2009 - 2:05 pm

These are great Betsy! Love the lighting in these

  • Abigail ToddAugust 22, 2009 - 8:58 am

I like them both – like the other said – they don’t look like traditional studio photos. In order to grow and to appeal to a greater public we have to try new things – so the look works! … about the naked boy- its so hot over here in Louisiana that its a miracle we aren’t all running around butt naked!

  • Maya LaurentAugust 23, 2009 - 10:10 pm

Love this lighting. Such a dilemma, to studio or not to studio. Playing with the light is so much fun though!!! Love that first shot so much.

Kevin & Michele’s sneak peek

I met Michele in the crazy way I usually do, through a complex intertwining of friends, blog readers and for a short while, we were neighbors. She is a SAINT who has loyally read my blog from my early days when all I talked about were cloth diapers, Miles and never dreamed I would have…

Chandler’s Senior Photos

Introducing Chandler and her boundless energy and happy spirit. Do you ever go to the mall and see teenagers that look like Bratz dolls? I LOVE that the seniors that come to me have been natural girls that don’t hide behind a lot of make up. I think Chandler looks so much like Rachel McAdams…

early evening swim

Remember this scene in the movie, The Graduate? It’s not quite the same, but I couldn’t help but think of that scene yesterday as Miles lounged in his (grass filled) baby pool, staring at the sky. Any guesses on what this little guy is dreaming of? (I say matchbox cars…)

I’d say he’s dreaming about how cool his momma is for putting a big, blue, water-filled, whale in his backyard.

Or maybe he’s just dreaming about broccoli?

  • GailAugust 11, 2009 - 8:25 pm

    You crack me up.

And you BETTER hope your son isn’t dreaming about what Dustin’s dreaming about in that top photo. He’s about 18 years too young for that! πŸ™‚

  • ShellAugust 11, 2009 - 9:23 pm

OMG! Too cute and so funny!

  • jess@studio3zAugust 11, 2009 - 9:30 pm

I think he’s dreaming about Mommy and Daddy getting him a brother or sister to play in the cool pool with. πŸ˜‰

  • Dennis BullockAugust 11, 2009 - 11:05 pm

I think he is dreaming that he wishes he had a skimmer πŸ™‚

  • SherryAugust 12, 2009 - 1:32 am

Grandma thinks he is thinking x+y=z !!!! love him so much.

  • LindsayAugust 12, 2009 - 2:42 am

Did Miles get John’s height? He seems so tall for being 2 1/2! Or maybe Braden got his dad’s height and is just short for being 2 1/2!

  • Jessica ParkisonAugust 12, 2009 - 4:23 am

I agree! He looks like he has grown so much all of a sudden! Love how he is so chill in the pool! If only I could relax like that!

  • AprilAugust 12, 2009 - 1:16 pm

OMG, how cute and funny is that?!?! So precious!

  • MichelleAugust 12, 2009 - 3:48 pm

Precious! πŸ™‚ His future wife is going to LOVE the perfectly chronicled life in pictures! πŸ™‚

  • AnnieAugust 12, 2009 - 4:06 pm

Oh my gosh. Love the pool, LOVE Miles, just love it all. And, I had completely forgotten how it is impossible to have a blow-up pool that is not perpetually full of grass. I suppose I’ll be reminded in a couple of years!

steaming sunday evening

Last night I had the pleasure of photographing a family that just exuded love and togetherness. I think yesterday was the hottest day of the summer, but these guys were total troopers during their shoot. Yea, not everybody is looking at the camera at the same time, but I love the energy of that image…. Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...
