beco betsy

Last week I was having coffee with my good friend Erin, mother to Miles’ BFF, the very adorable Preston, who you have seen on my blog many times. She busted out her new Beco Baby Carrier to show me and we decided to pop Miles in to see how we liked it. I set up my camera, told her to put the red dot on my face and “whammo” Preston’s Mommy Photography was born!

So besides Erin falling in love with my 5D, she captured us falling in LOVE with her carrier. I had her take a few photos as evidence of it’s awesomeness and I was off to run home to convince John that he MUST have one of those for his birthday. (In addition to some new trumpet samples that he has been eyeing of course.) Now, you will notice, when I have coffee with a friend, I roll out of bed and arrive. (Honestly, I’m like that pretty much all the time.) So this week I’m really exposing my true self on the blog! Love me without make-up or hair done or leave me! 😉

So John, being the sweetheart he is and a fan of babywearing (yes, I realize we have a toddler, not a baby…) jumped on board instantly. (It helped that theportablebaby.com had them on a big time sale too.)

I got my carrier SUPER fast today and we immediately threw that baby on and went for a walk and a quickie photo shoot. You can use it on the front or the back from newborn up to 45 lbs. We all LOVE it. It’s SO comfy that I swear I could do a photo shoot with Miles on my back. Here’s wayyyy more photos of me than you ever needed sporting the Beco.

blackandwhite standing

Yep, that’s a toothbrush Miles is holding. He’s a big fan of any type of brush for some reason. It has Elmo on it, who he knows his name despite never seeing him on TV. Gotta love marketing to children under the age of 2!

Beco 3

I love that when I sit, Miles can stand, but he didn’t start jumping or try to get out. Too interested in that Elmo toothbrush!

Beco 2

Ok, so I included that photo of me pointing because I have freakishly strong arms for NO reason. My arms look normal when I’m just standing there but if I move them or lift anything people start asking me how much I can bench press. It’s a total mystery. I wish I could lie and say I’m an ashtanga yoga master or something, but I’m a terrible liar. Thanks mom for the good arm genes! (My mom can literally lift railroad ties all by herself.) So I think any part of me that is freakishly strong comes from her. Otherwise, my body most resembles a hobbit. Notice all photos are from the waist up for a reason! Two words: Hobbit legs. Sometimes I worry that since I do nothing to maintain them that I’ll wake up one day and they will be be gone. I have weird fears like that.

Beco 1

Don’t you LOVE the pattern I chose for the carrier? They have 8 zillion patterns and it was very hard to choose, but I went with my first gut reaction of loving those bright poppies. I wish I could make it my blog wallpaper. Another one of our friend’s has a Beco carrier too so I can’t wait to get photos of the three of us wearing our little guys.

Ok, I’m shushing now. I just get really excited about funky stuff you can’t buy at babies r us created by super cool moms and wanted to share.

PS I’ve been blogging multiple posts at night as I’m in a blogging mood lately, so keep on scrolling!

OMG – is it 100 percent pathetic that I don’t even have a child and yet I want one of those Beco carriers because it is so freakin’ cool!!!

I’m going to stockpile that web address with all the other amazing baby URLs that I have fallen in love with in the past few years. To name a few: http://www.bebeaulait.com, http://www.fawnandforest.com, http://www.hotslings.com .. oh man, I could go on with my list (and if you think that’s bad, there’s many others!)

PS – Your comments about your arms are HILARIOUS! Only more so because the moment I met you I was instantly jealous of them 😉

Your carrier is BEAUTIFUL! If I didn’t have my mei tai that a friend made for us, we’d sooooooooo be getting one of those. Hmmm, but it has buckles. He might like that! 😉

betsy, i found your blog through diaperpin.com because i loved your photos soo freaking much, and i love the blog, too. this post inspired me to order a beco, which i’ve been wanting to try even though we have an ergo and really love it. Drat that impulse spending urge! Anyway. Just wanted to say hi. Wish we lived closer and could book a photo shoot, but when you start travelling, we’ll be in line to set a shoot up with you! Love the Beco!! Great fabric choice! And as always good photos (first time poster, long time reader). I myself have a hula girl babyhawk, nothing better in the world than carrying a toddler, too much fun 😀
