an afternoon with katie

Yippeee! I just got to take a little vacay from our artic winter to spend some time wrapping up Katie’s senior photos from this past autumn. (If you recall, I have a handful of very patient high school seniors who had their photos taken during the fall, but will get them this winter during my slower time.) Well, the waiting is over for Katie!

Katie is seriously just as sweet and beautiful on the inside as she is on the out. I am constantly taken aback by how polite, accommodating and sweet my senior clients are and Katie is absolutely all of that and more. She surprised me by wanting her senior photos in her back yard. Well, I guess anybody would considering her backyard is this awesome woodsy wonderland.

I noticed she had an adorable photo of her and her dog on her Facebook page and I said, “Hey, let’s have them join in for the shoot.” Her goldens were SOOOO excited for us that I only managed a couple of shots. (There were two dogs and they were rolling around wrestling like crazy. It was hilarious!) I still love that at least one of them was able to make at least a small appearance.” (These photos might be of two different dogs though…I’m not sure. Katie, you’ll have to help me out.)

This dog barely made it into the shot, but Katie looks SO CUTE here dodging her pup who was in total turbo mode.

I LOVE this photo. Katie, you just sparkle here. The wind was crazy that day, but I totally dig what it was doing to her hair. Perfectly tousled. I had Katie close her eyes a lot during that shoot so the wind wouldn’t dry her eyes out. Worked like a charm because Katie, your eyes look GORGEOUS! (Thank you to Katie’s mom for letting us drag that awesome chair outside for her shoot.)

I LOVE photos with movement. Thank you Katie for trusting me to give some leaps a try.

I love this photo of you leaning on the fence. I think you look like the nicest most approachable person in the world. Your sweetness really shines through here.

This photo is absolutely ON FIRE HOT!!!!! (I hope your mom and dad won’t hate me for saying that!) Raise your hand if you think this one needs to be printed HUGE!? (I do! I do!)

Here’s your highlight slideshow. I hope you love it and your photos! I had a blast working with you. Give your pups a squeeze for me!

I will make sure to let my mom know these are up and show ’em to her when I get a chance — she’ll be curious to know how things are on my Great Aunt Midge’s side of the tree 🙂

Gorgeous! I agree with you about getting that one big, but I think she’ll need an album or something to do all of the winners justice! She is beautiful.

Those would have to be among the BEST senior photos I’ve seen (and I stalk a lot of photography blogs, so I see a few!). She is a gorgeous girl, and your work makes her look even better. And I just love how she chose to have her photos taken in her yard. It all looks so relaxed and effortless. Well done to both of you!

She’s gorgeous! She certainly knows how to work it for the camera!

  • […] she looks familiar? I photographed her beautiful sister, Katie a few years ago. Just love this sweet family. We hope to raise our kids as well as their parents […]
