kids in a candy store…..

Today John and I got to do a shoot for Denise, the creative brainiac behind Matilda Jane Clothing. The first half of the shoot was of her funky studio, the ladies she works with (who I can tell are awesome and so on top of it) and her yummmmy fabrics and clothes.

I was seriously stuttering when she was trying to talk to me because my brain was racing at all the things I wanted to photograph. (Im such a goof ball!) Here’s a little sampling of the fun I had. There are plennnnty more where this came from.

John and I thought this little forgotten lady in the fabric storage room was fun.

We thought it was cute how the threads on the floor gathered on her jeans here. She was ironing the whole time I was there and I LOVE the sound of ironing. The steam is just so soothing. Must remind me of my childhood. Miles won’t really grow up hearing that in our house!

Oh how I wanted to stay and look at all the beautiful clothes (I didn’t find the skirts for big girls!) and sit and pick Denise’s brain about what it’s like to be a clothing designer. But she is in a very busy part of her season, so hopefully that will come another time. Rumor has it she has some questions about her Rebel, so I need to head back over there for a non-photo shoot related visit so we can talk fabrics and cameras. (Once your season slows down Denise! I can’t imagine when that would be!)

When John and I shoot together we have the luxury of doing a test shot on each other to see if our camera settings are right. We come out with some funny stuff sometimes, like this one, what am I doing with my lips? I LOVE that headband. I wear it all the time. (Here’s some random TMI for ya: The hair I lost after Miles was born is growing back so I have these two inch spiky hairs growing out of my head, hence, the constant headband wearing. Not to mention I can’t have anything in my face while I’m shooting.)

or a fun one like this one I got of John:

Ok, I’m off to bed. I have a bazillion more photos to edit (I have not forgotten about my dear Alyssa!) though I must go get some sleep. I just had to throw some fun colorful photos your way. Thanks for inviting us into your workshop Denise. It’s going to be hard to stay away when the new line comes in!!

P.S. Thank you so much for all of you helping me out by telling me my comments section doesn’t work. It stinks because it’s not a problem 100% of the time. Even my computer nerd husband (oh how I wish I was a computer nerd!) is stumped. So if you are moved to leave a comment and you can’t email me! my contact info. If you have never commented, leave me a message to say hi! I love comments!

I’m soooooo jealous! Your candy store is amazing, and WOW how you captured it. I bet it was fun to go and see it all and meet Ms. MJC herself, she’s so funny. Take her the book Understanding Exposure, it helps in the Rebel department, can’t remember the name of the guy who wrote it, sorry, amazon sells it. Oh and what were you doing with your lips?? LOL, I have some weird pics of me with my oldest that I was doing something weird with my lips, soooo embarassing 🙂

What came of the family shoot? Any sneak peaks? I need to get a blog…
