man at work

What a difference a few months can make. At the beginning of the summer I would get out the paints and Miles would be interested for a little while, but then he would start painting the kitchen table legs and start eyeing my white couch for possible embellishments. Focusing on the easel was a little difficult. Last week we tried again and he was so into it he painted until lunch time and I had to tear him away. He was in the zone!

So here’s a little peek into his creative side and what that looks like. Oh, and if you need some audio to what we were listening to that morning, John left his studio door open and we heard him wrap this piece up.

Gotta get the whole canvas. The bottom……

Sitting on the floor, watching him paint, I snapped this photo because I want to remember all of this morning. Capturing this detail of his stance and those tiny feet staying warm from the crispness of the autumn morning will help me bottle this time to revisit later.

Ok, it’s crazzzzzy late. Gotta get to bed. Should have a family session on the blog later this week. Nighty night!!!

PS This post is dedicated to Anne Woehnker, who might be my most dedicated blog reader yet. I saw her at Lindsay’s baby shower today and she reminded me that I’ve had the same blog post up for like four days now. She claims to refresh my page three times a day, so I guess she would know. I know, I know, Sorry! I’ve been so crazy busy lately I can barely see straight. (annnnd we have actually started sewing Miles’ Hallween costume!!!! That has cut into my blogging time.)

Oh that boy is just the cutest thing since Pound Puppies and Cabbage Patch Kids.

    LOVE the black and white.

And I gotta say, we’ve been contemplating buying a lighter colored couch and I’m like, “Hmmm..good idea with kids?” But hey, if you can make it work, I feel promise in the idea 😉

Oh my gosh Betsy!!! I’m so honored you dedicated the cutest post yet to me!!! How sweet of you:) I was just admiring Miles as he painted away in all those pictures and thought that each time I think I’ve seen the cutest pictures ever, you post another post that is even cuter!!! Seriously, his facial expressions in the photos just are too cute for words! And, for the record, I REALLY do check your blog like three times a day b/c there is always so much cuteness with Miles, and your talent blows me away with your photography, and then throw in your husband’s musical talent. Each visit to your website is bound to get a smile out of me;) It was so great visiting with you yesterday at the shower! You just exude happiness and sweetness. . .you really do!;)

I absolutely love these photos, Betsy. Watching Miles grow makes me so excited to see Andrew do these same things. I had an easel that I loved when I was little and this brings back great memories.

  • […] No comments When Miles was Jocelyn’s age it was the dead of winter, but we still painted up a storm in my kitchen. It’s nice that I get to drag the paints to the patio and go crazy out there. […]
