As you may have heard, John and I decided to teach ourselves how to sew this year (Thank you, You Tube) and make Miles’ Halloween costume. After much debate, John came up with the idea for an adorable little scarecrow, and we couldn’t be happier. We had some highs and lows making his costume. We conquered reading a pattern, deciphering the sewing lingo, bias tape, squeezing elastic through tiny spaces and even doing a bit of custom tailoring to make it fit our little guy just right. It still needs some fringe at the sleeves, but tonight was just a run-through for the big night, coming up next week.
Even though I have a week jam packed with shoots, our friend Chris said we HAD to make it to the zoo tonight since the weather is sooooo awesome. So after my shoot tonight, we hustled to the zoo and had a TOTAL blast. It was pretty dark out, and I hate shooting with flash, so this was al I could get of our little guy.
He LOVES his costume.
…and of course, Miles with his best buddy Chris. All of these photos were taken while standing in line. The line was soooo long that it was pitch black out by the time we got to go in. It was sooo worth the wait! It was just magical. I’m such a nut about Halloween, it was like a fairy tale to me with all the lit up pumpkins lining the paths and little costumed children running around. It was just perfect.
I have been feeling the pressure lately with all the images and prints that are piling up around here, it’s starting to feel a bit like Lucy at the chocolate factory. It felt awesome to get out tonight and refresh myself a bit with such an awesome night. I’m heading to bed now (I’m ignoring that obnoxious time on the clock-yikes!) and excited to get a bunch done tomorrow.
Oh my gosh! It’s amazing! You just decided to take up sewing and made THIS? Um, not fair. 😉
Lucy at the chocolate factory! Girl, I’m so with you. Thank you for the laugh!

Wow. I am impressed with the sewing. All the seams look nice and straight and it looks perfectly made. I think sewing clothes is one of the harder things to sew. He looks adorable.

That is so great! It fits his little personality so well.
