mother’s day

That moment when you hold your baby and you look upon that little face that all at once looks like nothing you expected, but is so deeply familiar. That feeling that, yes, it’s you. I’ve been waiting for you. I still gaze upon their faces, years later, and still can’t believe these wondrous beings are my children. I couldn’t have possibly made something so amazing, so perfect. How are they mine? It’s all such an incredible honor to be their mom.

I know these words are nothing new. They have been spoken over and over by mothers throughout time who have loved their children, in awe of them. It still doesn’t shadow the fact how real that love is, how strong the feeling of pride is.

I’m sharing the photo of me and Jocelyn because even though it’s a totally unflattering photo of me, this photo speaks volumes to me. I didn’t have a photo like this of when I first held Miles. His delivery and first few days in the hospital was a hot mess, to be described loosely. However, this photo speaks for both my children. It illustrates the pure joy of having them in my life.

It wouldn’t be a mother’s day post without a photo of me with both my kids, so here’s my favorite photo of me and Miles.

Happy Mother’s day to all the mother’s out there, whether they have children, pets or spend their days caring for others. Much love to all of you!

I’m late in reading this but Happy Belated Mother’s Day! I cried reading this. I am expecting my 1st baby this Fall and I cannot wait to hold her. I’ve heard that there is no such love like the love you have for your children. I cannot wait to feel that. 🙂
