my first canvas print

Plus a totally boring bathroom with empty walls=

The motivation to buy my first canvas print! (It’s not hung in the bathroom yet, just in the hall for now.)

Here it is! I love how the toothbrush Miles is holding wraps around the edge of the canvas print. And yes, it is printed on actual canvas and wrapped around wood stretchers. They will last a 100 years too, so this baby’s not going anywhere. Maybe this will go in Miles’ baby’s bathroom someday. 😉 I like painting a contrasting border on the wall to “frame” canvases (Like I did in Miles’s room, click here to see what I mean) so I’m planning to do that soon.

My first canvas print purchase was on a total whim. I still have a set of canvas prints I want to buy for my kitchen, so hopefully that will happen soon. Oh and speaking of my kitchen, guess what, I’m suddenly totally motivated to paint my kitchen. You know why this is, right? Because I have a lot on my mind and a ton of work to do this month. I work best when I have a lot going on. So bring it on! (Though I’m not taking any more shoots until August, I can still add my own projects to my to do list.) As my late husband Andy used to say, “Idle hands are the devil’s playground.” So I’m keeping busy. Very busy.

Speaking of which, I just got back from Lowes and picked out a sample of paint (I’m going with a buttery yellow for now) and just painted a sample square to see what I think. I know, I know, I have work to do, but I can’t sit at my computer the WHOLE day and night! I have never been excited to paint my kitchen, so I’m embracing this.

BTW, while I was at a shower this afternoon John framed my 16X20, 12×18 and 5×7 prints I had ordered a couple weeks ago. Two years after we move in, this house is going to start coming together! Woo hoo! You will DIE when you see the prints we had printed. They are a mix of my work and Bobbi and Mike’s prints. I framed them in my typical black frames with big thick bright white mattes. LOVE IT!!! Can’t wait to share pics when they are all up.

BTW, if you are LOVING the idea of a canvas print and NEED to have one, email me and I’ll get you some pricing through my professional canvas printer. When things slow down (ha ha) I hope to have pricing listed on my website for stand out prints and canvases, but for now, just tell me what you want and I’ll give you a quote. Take my word when trying to figure out the size you want, think BIG! This one is 16X20 and it’s fine for my bathroom, but any other room, I will go MUCH bigger.

Back to work for me! I have another layer on my sample square to paint and of course more yummy wedding photos to work on. BTW, sneak peaks of Cassie & Jason’s getting ready shots coming soon. (I’ll be giving sneak peaks in chunks because I just can’t narrow it down to a respectable number for just one blog entry.)

PS I got some people curious about how to enroll in classes like the baby paint class Miles took. Check out this website. and have fun!

That shot is so awesome I would hang it in MY bathroom! (How does canvas hold up in moist bathrooms anyway?)
