our afternoon at the festival, narrated by Miles

It’s Saturday night, which means it’s time for another creative project by Bets and John. We created a slideshow of our day at the Johnny Appleseed Festival, but John didn’t write music to it. Instead he recorded the sounds at the festival, along with what Miles had to say about it, with his iphone. (The quality will really surprise you.)

We are in LOVE with this kind of slideshow. Miles’ voice, mixed in with sounds from the day just makes our heart BURST. Please take a peek, and listen, to the sweetness of our afternoon. In retrospect, I wish I had taken more photos, but when you are holding food, pushing a stroller and watching after a two and a half year old, it’s hard to remember to take photos too.

Two words that Miles pronounces funny that just make my heart MELT: “festival” and “feather.” Oh, and when he asks for popcorn, he sounds like a little British boy, which REALLY makes our heart melt.

I took those photos with my old camera and lens, so they aren’t the same quality as my client images, but at least I could take a camera with me today and not worry about something happening to it. I stopped taking my camera with me on personal trips for a while there because I was spending too much time focused on getting the perfect shot and not being in the moment with my family. So I’m working on letting go a bit on my own personal images and just taking photos for fun. It’s very freeing, actually. So you will probably see more of my personal stuff on here, whether it’s an awesome photo or not.

Thanks for watching! Next personal project I can’t wait to do; photos from Miles first day of school, narrated by him. I can’t wait!!!!

Betsy, this is so, so, SO precious. It reminds me a lot of the slideshows my peers do in journalism and I think that’s why I gravitate toward this kind of documenting life versus just carrying a video camera around. So special!

Thanks for sharing. That little pumpkin of yours is the cutest. And holy crap – I can’t believe audio is that great off the iPhone. All the more reason I’m coveting one now! 🙂

I think that the JAF committee should use that for future advertising. I’m certain they’d be delighted to see it. You’ve managed to capture the essence of the day,…without the smells of the fires and food cooking. Did you try the sweet potato delight? It was really good! Also, I really like the way the festival has kid friendly activities. I love the way Miles responded to everything. 🙂
