I’ve alluded to the fact that doing our latest family shoot in the studio was a challenge. I’m not ready to post our family photos that we did get yet, but I can show you a bit that we got along the way. Oh and some MAJOR lessons were learned during this shoot. When I photograph my kids next time, I’m going to go to my studio and set up like I would any other family ahead of time alone and have John bring the kids separately. Me setting up while the kids run around the studio is so stressful for me. Plus, we have to just get up and GO to the studio first thing. We did this shoot at 3 in the afternoon and next time we will just have to get up, get dressed and eat breakfast in the car to capture them in that awesome post breakfast happy time. So yea, wish me luck on our next shoot. Many lessons learned here! Check out how we learned these lessons the hard way. (But managed to still get some cute shots.)
So when my kids walked into the studio space, Miles immediately was NOT going to have his photo taken. So we got started without him. It’s the three Kings 2.0! We were trying to look like we were having a blast so Miles would want to join us. No luck. Joss must have given it away. John and I look like Muppets, don’t we? 😉
When your four year old won’t be in the photo, forget bribes, just physically drag him into the photo. You heard it here first.
Then Joss didn’t want her photo taken. Good gracious, our kids are so ying and yang! Awwww, Miles was so snuggly though!
For all of you under thirty, I apologize for this next caption that I’m sure you won’t understand.
Joss appears to be saying, “Whatchu talkin ’bout Willis?” (You know you want to google it.)
How did I get so lucky? Another snuggly photo with the elusive Miles? Yay!
Oh and if you don’t believe me that our kids are nutty in the studio? Proof:
Joss is not hurt here, she’s just doing her little stop and drop move for the camera. There’s no greater gravitational pull then a toddler that has dropped to the floor.
Jocelyn is extremely tolerant of her brother’s crap.
I’m outta here!
Joss was EVERYWHERE. So before we left I tried the ‘ol “Ok, I’ll hold her in front of the camera” Hail Mary Pass. She gave us this perfect little pose. What a dolly! Someday I’m sure she’ll cherish this photo of her and her mother’s legs.
Gosh I love that little punkin. She’s so little but so big all at once.
Awwww, it’s my two dads! (ANOTHER 80’s reference. I watched A LOT of tv as a kid.) Big thanks to our buddy Chris Melching for always being open to helping us taking pics of our family.
Stay tuned for our actual “Christmas photos.” I’m on the fence about doing Christmas cards this year. (I know, I know…) So we’ll see if they just end up on the blog or actually printed on cards.
In other news, I think I’m going to start booking for winter and spring 2012 over Christmas break. (Yay!!) So REALLY stay tuned if you are hoping to book for next season.
Hope your holiday prep is all going well. I’m doing great because I’m totally procrastinating. Check back next week!
Awww those out takes are adorable!!! I live the one of your legs and Joss – its really Sweet! Just adorable!!
So funny! I say “whatchu talkin ’bout Willis?” all the time to Oliver and he just yells at me “My name is NOT willis!” The picture of Miles shoving Joss out of the way is priceless! You mean they don’t play perfectly together 100% of the time?
I LOVE the crazy family photo! You should put that one on your wall…
I don’t know what picture is funniest. Ha, ha. I think the one of Miles pushing Joss “off” the chair. Looks like it was fun (& stressful). P.S….You have to do cards!!
Gushing at how adorable you all are!!!!! So much fun!
do you suppose Joss will always be so tolerant of Miles?.She does sass back yet…just 2 great grandbabys..I love
I totally meant to comment on this, but didn’t for some reason. Hmmm.. Anywho, I’m sure your official shot will be amazing, but I’m in love with these outtakes. The one of Joss standing while holding on to both of your hands? Pure perfection. I mean, she even has her little foot turned in perfectly! A pro already 😉
okay…now these make me feel better Betsy! 🙂 Love your family!!!
