saturday with emily

Today I hung out with my niece and she wanted some photos for an upcoming birthday party invitation so we set out to get that taken care of. In all actuality, I really just wanted an excuse to go hang out with her for a day!. : ) Anyway, I’m also going to make her some of her own little cards like my biz cards with her photos on it and her vital info on the back so people can keep in touch with her when she moves schools next year. Which stinks that she’s switching schools, but she’s excited because her new school has some photography classes she’s really excited about. We are already planning a “shoot off” once she gets some classes under belt.

So bless her heart, it was 25 freakin degrees out today. The last outdoor shoot I did in January was cold, but not as cold as it was today. I felt AWFUL I was keeping her out in it, but I really wanted to get some outdoor shots and we worked fast.

I LOVE this one.

When I showed this one to Emily she thought it looked like she was at a subway station. Yea, it does! Could you imagine FW having a subway? Considering I think allen county has an average of 3 cars per family that would be interesting.

We ducked into the downtown library since she hadn’t seen the new one yet and we got some hot chocolate and some indoor shots.

We actually got “yelled at” for blocking the stairway on this shot. We are such rebels!

So this shot started out with a plain stairwell with boring smooth walls and I liked it, but it needed some help. So I added a texture in my post processing, which isn’t something I do a lot of, but I think it helped and I really like it.

This was just a Betsy shoot today, not a Betsy & John shoot as John stayed home with Miles while I played all day with Emily. The big news was that when it was time to take a bath Miles said, “Bahhhth” right on cute. Such a little cutie. I came home just in time to play with him a bit and tuck him into bed. BTW, our awesome 6 PM bedtime will now be 7 PM as of day lights savings, so we’ll be able to take him out to dinner now without having to join the early bird special club.

Ok, I’m exhausted and I’m heading to bed. Just had to share my beautiful niece with all of you! Thanks for giving me your day Emily. Can’t wait to do it again soon.

P.S. The silent auction for our photography session went great at the gala last night. Yippee! More news on that complete with pics later.

I’m sorry Bets. When you emailed me that stairwell photo, I totally didn’t see the post processing texture you added on. It shows a lot better on this background than hotmail. It works beautifully and I don’t use many but this one works really well. Boy, does she have great eyes or what. They are stunning.

Beautiful pictures for a beautiful day in the cold. These are days she will NEVER forget. Keep creating more memories. xo
