self portrait series: March 2012.

Looking back at March, it was my month to be crazy creative mom. I don’t know if it was the unseasonably warm weather we had, but my blood was flowing with creative juices and the kids and I were off making creative messes every day. We filled a big metal tub with water and made “stew”, we took dolls for walks, sorted buttons, had picnics, blew big messy bubbles, filled our driveway with colored chalk, made cookies, got the sand table out, learned to ride bikes, played badminton and of course, good old fashioned playing with the hose. I’ve worked a bit too, but I’m still coming off my slow season so that means my days have been open to explore with the kids.

Here’s some of my adventures with the kids, and of course the (mandatory for a self portrait project) self portrait mixed in. (I really need to bust out my real camera for an actual self portrait one of these days.) If you can’t tell, I freaking LOVE being a mom. These are, hands down, the best days of my life. May they only get sweeter!

This cute scarf was a very sweet gift for Jocelyn, but I can’t help myself from borrowing it from her from time to time. (My daughter’s wardrobe Trumps mine BIG TIME already!!!)

So cute and SO fun! Props for being the most creative mama I know! (You remind me a lot of MY mom growing up…she was a nursery school teacher and always had fun craft ideas. One I still remember is “sewing” a paper teddy bear. We cut out the shapes, hole punched the sides, stitched it with yarn and then stuffed it with cotton. I bet Miles would love it! (Who am I kidding…the boy has probably already stitched a human body by now, smart as he is 😉 )

LOVE these photos! It has been a crazy great month for being outside and lots of fun play! I keep thinking I’ll do a good self-portrait too. I would love to have a great family portrait. Do you have trouble convincing your husband and kids to sit for portraits for you? My three-year-old says “no more pictures!”

What’s more fun that mother/daughter clothes-swapping? 🙂 You’re such an awesome mom, Betsy!

Just noticed you are in Fort Wayne! I’m on the other side of the state, 30 minutes south of Lafayette/West Lafayette.
