slow down January!

So we are only six days into 2011 and I already feel like this year is flying by too fast. I have a busy weekend coming up with a family wedding, ten days from now I’m throwing my BFF’s baby shower (SUPER excited to do that, just a little nervous that I won’t do an amazing job for her), the next day I’m playing with a photog friend in my studio, having out of town family in the week after that (again, very awesome) and then Miles’ birthday (even better!) I think somewhere in there I’m working at Miles’ preschool registration. Oh and if anybody is counting, the three year anniversary of my sister’s passing is this month and my late husband Andy would have turned 35 yesterday.

So it’s a wham, bam January, that’s for sure. Lots of great stuff going on, mixed in with some tough stuff. This is all in a month where I usually like to hide under the covers and just hibernate after the holiday craziness and ease into the new year. Heck, I don’t usually force myself to start using the correct year on checks until, like, March or something. No can do this year, though thankfully I don’t really have to write checks anymore.

I have not quite mastered the art of being a mom to two AND have my crap together enough to actually be useful to other people yet. I feel like I’m barely useful to my own family right now. It will all come together, but right now, Jocelyn’s expression in this photo shows exactly how I feel as Christmas break slams to a close and I attempt to hit the ground running in 2011:

So no hibernating for me! I need to look alive and get stuff done!

Even though I’m feeling pretty nuts right now, the kids are doing AWESOME. Jocelyn’s sleeping schedule is adjusting to a more normal and earlier bedtime, which gives me some free time in the evening. YAY!!! She is the smiliest and happiest little punkin. Miles and I are really having a great time with her. Miles is still just plowing through crafts like crazy (thank you after Christmas crafts sales!) and thankfully still going strong on his Christmas presents and new books. Miles starts a pottery class with John this month on Saturday mornings that they have been waiting months to sign up for. So yay for that!

Here’s some video of our adventures together:

Here’s Miles on his new Christmas balance bike. It’s his first day on it so I’ll have to post video again soon of how much better he can glide on it now. Supposedly starting out with a balance bike means we won’t have to do training wheels. Can’t wait for warmer weather!

If you are in the mood for some baby gazing, here you go, set to a song that will totally make you smile.

Peek a boo Jossy. Damn YouTube doesn’t let you pick what photo they freeze to for the video preview so this looks like I’m suffocating our daughter. I promise you, I’m not. It’s peek a boo.

John dancing with the kids in the kitchen. My girlfriend Gail said she couldn’t help but think about Jocelyn dancing with John at her wedding 25 years from now. Awwwww! My heart is exploding at the thought of that! Once again, You Tube comes through with a weird image to freeze on for the preview. At least they are consistent.

So lots going on, lots to be thankful for and many, many reasons for me to GO TO BED RIGHT NOW! Nighty night! Thanks for tuning in.

I haven’t been out in the blog world for awhile, so just checking out your latest posts. You are doing a wonderful job documenting all the little moments in little ones lives & your family, Betsy! I hope you are handing the camera to John often so you are in many photos & videos with your kiddos, too!

I’m sure you only film the kids when they are happy and in a good mood, or are they always so happy? Please tell me they cry, act up, and don’t want the camera always pointing at them like my kids, but you only show us the good stuff. Please!

Oh honey. I just had a morning so bad, that John had to come home from work to save me. Trust me. Not perfect around here!
