soggy sunday morning

Some of you have been wondering if Miles is still around since I haven’t had him on the blog much. Of course he is! Despite all the work I’ve been busy with, he is still the star of the show around here. (No sleep and housework? That totally takes a backseat.)

So here are some photos, hot off the camera, taken this morning. His new word that grandma taught him yesterday is “Flower,” which Miles pronounces more like, “Wow-wer.” It is, of course, very cute. He’s been saying many more words and catching on more and more to the sign language, which has been mildly helpful, though more amusing than anything in our house.

This is one of those photos where I’m like, “This doesn’t even look like Miles.” The kid has many faces.

As I’m taking this photo John is yelling at me to stop taking photos and pay attention to Stamp who had run off and was taunting the dog chained up in our neighbor’s yard. Opps!

As you can see, Stamp is fine. She’s a good girl, no more taunting the poor chained up pup.

Look at our happy little man! I want to EAT HIM UP!!!!

So spring keeps teasing us and there was no pleasing this morning as it was wet and grey today. Miles’ shoes and pants show full evidence of that.

Look at these cutie guys! Miles is ALL boy. Look at his hair all wet from playing outside and you can tell he’s eyeing something else he wants to go get into. Oh, I almost forgot, Miles can say “hat” and “head” too and likes to steal John’s hat and put it on his head.

Miles’ cheeks are so freaking soft, squishy, and of course, so bubbly. Lately he’s been doing a chipmunk trick where he will just be sitting in his highchair, we think with an empty mouth and he will pull out a HUGE piece of food. We have NO idea it’s in there because of the large capacity of those cheeks! It’s like a party trick. His mouth is like a clown car he can, and does, cram so much in there!

Sorry to take this cute little post and take it to a grim place, but I’m going to switch gears and just mention that the crime rate here in Fort Wayne has been deplorable. We had, I believe, our 13th homicide of the year on Friday. These all seem to be young people and any homicide is tragic, but these deaths that have occurred in the last couple of months have been particularly violent. I just ask that we all take a moment to breath and send peace to our communities. Whether you do that through prayer, meditation or just being nicer to the lady who checks you out at the grocery store. I don’t know what the answer is, and not to be cheesy, but there just seems to be a lot of people out there not focusing on love. So I’m just going to work on sending peace and love out to my community as much as I can with my words, actions and energy and I hope some of you will join me in that.

Betsy – What a great post! Not only are the pictures of Miles so adorable, but I totally agree with what you said in your last paragraph. We were at the zoo today and this very nice couple just started talking to us out of the blue. I just thought that it would be so nice if more people were that friendly and willing to be that kind. I am with you…I will send good thoughts out to our communtities, as well as those families that are suffering right now. I hate to think of our kids growing up in a society that is full of anything other than love!

That is the best party trick I have ever heard of! He’s such a doll. Great seeing you this weekend at the shower! xo
