update from the nuthouse

This past week John and I felt like we were in the midst of a full on Griswald Family Christmas meltdown, though without the Christmas tree as this all came down the before December even started. Here’s a little rundown on the insanity around here lately:

-Jocelyn and I went down an inflatable slide together, our legs got twisted and for lack of a better description, I broke her leg. It was horrible for the first couple of days and now, it’s not so bad. Learn from my stupidity and let your kids go down the slide by themselves, or wait until they are old enough to go down alone. Sigh…

-The same day Jocelyn broke her leg, I came down with the flu and got REALLY sick. (In case you haven’t heard, mom’s aren’t allowed to get sick.)

-I’m still in my busy season. Working every single minute of the day I can.

-Miles got the stomach flu…IN THE VAN. John spent two hours cleaning out the van. It was quite the parenting rite of passage.

So it’s been a crazzzzy start to the month, and we haven’t had a chance to get our Christmas tree up, but we are slowly and surely getting back on our feet. I’ve kept my sense of humor though and every time we got hit with another crazy kick in the pants, I just laughed and thought, well, this too shall pass. I’m just thankful all these little bumps in the road are temporary.

Many thanks to all the love and support from our friends who sent care packages, food and well wishes to us this past week. She’s doing great and getting around just fine with her cast. The first two days were rough, but we are getting back to normal now. Miles is all better and I’m slowly but surely getting well again. Good things have been happening amongst all this chaos, so I still feel really blessed.

Hope everybody is getting in the holiday spirit. I know I’m excited to finally get our tree this weekend and put all this yucky sickness behind us! (Please!)
