Ok, so even though we have two kids, I really didn’t think we would ever plan on going to Disney World. I figured that if we ever had the money to do it we would just go to an awesome resort in the BVI and just let the kids go snorkling all day. That is…
The Buzz Lightyear ride and the parades are a must! Turkey legs will feed just about all 4 of you with 1 and are awesome! And don’t do what I did (with 4 kids) – be sure to plan downtime in the middle of the day to rest and enjoy your hotel – they usually have really nice pools. I ran my family ragged, thinking we might miss something! SO MUCH FUN! I get giddy just thinking of it for you! Have a ball!
Oh I so love Disney World! My husband and I went for our honeymoon, and just returned from an Anniversary trip. My best tip, is use the fastpasses! If you don’t, the lines can be unbearable and you won’t love it. Hopefully you enjoy everything Disney. Take it slow and enjoy every bit of it!
Aw I’m so happy you’re going! Miles will NEVER forget it! I haven’t been to Disney since I was a kid, but I do remember that It’s A Small World was my favorite ride. It’s probably really lame or creepy now, but I loved it as a kid. Can’t wait to see pictures!
Grandma still things she needs to go and be NANNY!!! But I guess I have to settle with just taking them to the airport…
Long time reader but I have come out of lurkdom for Disney. When planning our fall trip 2 years ago I got sucked in to the Disney planning website disboards.com. Like you said, Disney Crazy will happen within a few minutes of being on property. Seeing the Disney magic through a kid’s eye is great! Have fun!
Hey Betsy…Robert teaches a course on Disney and American Culture so we usually go every other year. In January we will take Grayson for the first time (with both sets of his grandparents making appearances at different times). I think this is the year where he’ll finally get it…but I hear you, we’re also sort of free-basing Disney…”Hey, Grayson, wanna watch Lion King? Again? Wanna watch Snow White?” Where will you be staying?
You will so love Disney…I promise! I am someone who grew up going to Disney year after year, and it is still my favorite place to visit. My hubby & I just went there for a birthday weekend trip last month, and it is just the most fun place. For your kids, they will love the Magic Kingdom (you will too)! Toy Story Mania at Hollywood Studios was a blast. Dining at the Prime Time 50’s Cafe there, is a fun experience too. I can’t give one favorite thing, because I truly love it all. You’ll have to also buy everyone Mickey ears, because they are just the cutest thing to see in pictures. Have such a great time, and I’m going to be looking forward to seeing your many awesome pictures.
I’ve been following your blog for ages…I can’t help but share:
You can’t miss the “Wishes” fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. I cry every single time. Best view is from Main Street in front of Cinderella’s Castle…..but beyond that, the best is to use the FASTpasses. My family usually fastpasses one ride and waits in another or eats and shops while we wait for our slotted time. (This is especially great on some of the kid rides like Peter Pan and Toy Story Mania where the line can be hours long!) It makes it so much easier!
Have a blast!
Ok I seriously could go on for HOURS on this topic but I don’t wanna bore to many people who read the comments. HA!! But feel free to email with any questions. I actually just applied to the WDW Moms Panel to help people with travel tips etc. So I might be a little crazy with Disney. 😉
Fastpasses are a must! The toy Story Mania ride at Hollywood studios is one of the most popular rides right now so make sure to go early and get a fast pass for it. Remember you can only fastpass one ride at a time.
If you plan on eating at any of the sit down places make sure and make reservations, if you love all you can eat places then the Liberty Tree Tavern in Frontier Land is a MUST. That is THE BEST! My husband and I were SHOCKED to see how much food you actually get! Makes sure and see the “Wishes” and fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom at night…you will cry no matter what. I’m sure I looked like a sobbing fool. It’s definitely magical.
If your wanting to meet any characters make sure you pic up a times guide at the front of the park..it lists the hours of who is where and what time. Mickey, Minnie, and the princess’ are at the front of the park now since Toon Town is gone. When you walk in they are in the first building on the right…I wanna say it’s Town Hall but not 100%.
Anymore questions feel free to shoot me an email. 🙂
