3 kings hit the ATL

Well, we are back! John, Miles and I headed off to Atlanta this past weekend for a lovely wedding and for some much needed and overdue time away for just us. We actually have never gone on a family trip for just the three of us and we had an absolute BLAST. We are in the midst of dreaming up our next getaway.

I used to travel for my job in my past life and I would see families traveling with babies and I always felt sorry for them. It looked like a nightmare. However, Miles is a dream to travel with. (I hate to say this, but I actually thought that lots of stuff with kids would be a pain before I had my own. It’s been a wonderfully enlightening experience having Miles. I suppose lots of people without kids could have looked at us this weekend, with food splattered down our fronts and felt sorry for us too. So i guess it’s all a matter of perspective.) Back to Miles, the amazing happy baby. He says “Hi!” To everybody he meets and charms people left and right. We were surrounding by baby loving people and even had one woman ask to hold Miles during one of our flights. He just goes with the flow. It’s awesome. I wish we could go someplace fun every weekend! The funniest thing about this weekend was we found out his latest craze is pointing out EVERYTHING with wheels on it and investigating it. Can you imagine how many wheels we came across this weekend? Lots!

We had one day free to roam Atlanta and since John used to live in Atlanta, he thought he would have us give Atlanta’s public transportation, aka MARTA, a whirl. At first I was a bit of a diva, complaining about the urine smell (John must have forgot about the rule of avoiding the elevators) but once I saw Miles’ reaction, I got it. It’s a cool thing. We went to an area that had an art fair going on, so no worries on finding a place to park. Also, it gave us lots of opportunities to interact with even more friendly and baby loving people. I forgot how friendly people in the south are. Wow! Such nice people. So polite.

When I told Miles we were going on a train, he immediately starting doing his “Choo Choo!” sound, which really sounds like, “Doo Doo!”

Here’s Miles watching our connecting train coming. (Yes, he has guacamole in his nose. We just left a GREAT little outdoor mexican restaurant. The weather was PERFECT.)

In awe of the train wooshing by. (Am I the only one loving how his hair sticks up in back?)

There it goes!!! If you can’t tell, Miles is VERY expressive. He is so dramatic, just like his mom and dad. It’s hilarious.

If I had the time and the resources, I would seriously travel every weekend with this kid. We banned ourselves from the internet and just completely focused on our family and the friend’s we were visiting. It was a WONDERFUL weekend!! Miles loves traveling too and literally woke up every morning as happy as a clam and thrilled to start the day.

I’m home, back to reality and back to 8 million emails and a print order. (Yippee!!) In my rush to get out the door, I totally forgot to do an auto reply on my email. (I actually expected to be online over the weekend, but later we decided to against it.) So sorry if you emailed and I didn’t get back to you. I will soon.

Now, it’s back to bed. I actually went to bed before midnight over the weekend. I’m back to my bad hours again!!!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Take care!
