an autumn afternoon with katie

The last senior session of the year for me (so sad to be done for the year…but there’s always spring seniors!) was a sunny, but chilly, afternoon with Katie. The wind may have been cold, but I LOVE how it showed off her gorgeous hair. Katie did amazingly in the wind. I literally had tears running down my face from the wind and she was like a professional model.

I’m so in love with everything in this photo. Her smokey eyes, her hair waving perfectly in the wind, her expression and that jacket that fits perfectly.

Katie, you are so adorable. You just exude happiness here. (You wouldn’t know she had SAT’s that next morning…)

Katie gives that perfect serious face. That’s not easy to do! When I try it, I either look mean or totally bored. Katie, you nailed it.

Ok, there’s a whole outfit that I just realized didn’t make it into her sneak peek, but I was just totally digging that jacket, belt and dress combo and of course, that wind. I must be in a windswept mood tonight. Don’t worry, there are plenty of photos where your hair isn’t blowing all around. 😉

Ok, so as much as I am not a fan of the month of November, we had the most amazing weather this weekend and I’m in love with this golden light you can see flickering through some of the remaining leaves in the background of these photos. I am slowly warming up to trying to fall in love with this month, and shoots like these sure help. We’ll get to see more of Katie and this warm sunny afternoon later this winter. Lots, lots more to come.

Katie, you are just as sweet and nice as you can be. I loved hanging out with you last week. and snapping photos in between comparing notes on Grey’s Anatomy and how in the world we have been coping without Glee for the past two weeks.

I’m off to bed right now. I have a parent teacher conference tomorrow at 9:30 AM with Miles’ preschool teacher. Yes, they have parent teacher conferences for two and a half year olds and no, my rookie mommy heart is not sure it can handle anything less than hearing that Miles is the most amazing and precious little boy they have ever seen. So knowing I’m going to go hear Miles’ first judgement of his school career tomorrow, I’m not too excited to hop in bed. (This is where my insomnia works in my senior client’s favor.) However, my apprehension regarding Miles being judged at parent teacher conferences is a whole other post and I won’t hijack Katie’s sneak peek with my mommy talk. I will say, before I shush, that when I look at the high school seniors I photograph, I sometimes think of my own son, not even three yet. I think about how much I love him and how amazingly emotional it has got to be for senior’s parents to see their babies standing before them, looking so grown up and their own individual person shining through. I really do take it all to heart. It’s crazy how having a son just starting the process in school can make me so sensitive to these amazing kids wrapping it up and heading out on their own.

Ok, it’s late and I get SUPER sappy when I write after midnight. Nighty night!

    HAhaha!! Betsy!

We went to our daughter’s first P/T conference when my daughter was in preschool (9 years ago!!) and they pointed out that she couldn’t skip. WHAT!?!?!!?! It was awful and wouldn’t you know we spent the next week at home teaching her to skip! 😉 It’s all worked out. She’s 12 now… is super smart and a ballet dancer! 😉 I’m sure they will have nothing but GREAT things to say about Miles. 🙂
