defrosting a bit

If you live in Indiana you know we enjoyed a nice heat wave of 33 degrees today. We heard a loud BOOM today and no worries, it was just the mega huge sheet of ice defrosting and sliding off our sky lights and crashing to the ground. After perusing my blog stats, I noticed that the #2 state that draws the largest number of bloggers right after Indiana is from California. (Hi California!) So a large number of visitors are enjoying weather that I’m not even sure we are capable of remembering right now. (Nope, I’m not bitter.) I’m actually impressed that I have blog readers in Sunny CA. I figured Californians would think we were a bunch of hillbillies or something. (Is that how you spell the plural of hillbilly?) Though from the looks of my kitchen in some of the videos I have posted, they could totally surmise that.

Annnnnnnway, I have totally fallen out of blogging all the time and I hate it! My time lately, when I’m not off on an adventure with Miles, has been working on stuff for this upcoming photography season. Let’s just say, I”m starting to really chomp at the bit to get 100% of my focus back on my camera, or at least what I see through my lens and move on a bit from the business aspects I have been working on. It’s making me a little twitchy and not myself. Ok, enough of my excuses about why I’m gone and why my blog has gotten a little dusty and on to what’s going on in our life.

Tomorrow morning we have Kindermusik, which has just been great. Don’t hesitate to sign your little one up! I think the new session will be starting in a couple weeks. It took awhile, but gosh darn it, those kids, many of who aren’t even 2 yet, are singing along, playing instruments and doing their cute little dances. It’s our favorite part of our week (apart from our impromtu Target runs to see what’s new.) We just love our teacher, who plays clarinet for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. She is SO great with the kids and even Miles, who has his own agenda for class. Though Miles, who for weeks would just dance around in his own world is now suddenly the teacher’s shadow and has to be the first to play an instrument. It’s so funny to see all the girls in the class play something like the drum to a steady slow beat and once it’s Miles’ turn everybody has to speed up their singing because he drums SUPER fast. It cracks everybody up. It’s fascinating to see the difference between boys and girls even this early.

Speaking of girls, here’s Miles’ little friend Aashi. Isn’t she BEAUTIFUL? Oh my goodness, Miles is surrounded by the cutest girls there! (Yea, Miles is pretty much the only boy in his class.) Here’s Aashi playing the slide whistle their teacher gave them for Christmas.

John usually gets to come to class too, unless things are really busy in his studio. Aashi had to see if both sides of the whistle worked. 🙂 I love Miles’ expression as he played his in the background.

It really is just about the cutest 40 minutes of our week. Considering I have to get up in the morning for it, I better get going. Oh, but speaking of cute. Here’s our little thumbsucker and his big blue eyes.

Wait, sorry. Not done babbling.

Am I the only person that is just now starting to defrost from the cold and surprised to see it’s almost February? Good gracious. I swear, the older I get, the more and more surprised I am by a new month coming along. With a new month brings Miles’ birthday again. His birthday will be on Ground Hog day and considering I’m an April Fool’s baby (yea…ha ha.) and my mom was born on St. Patty’s day, I really like random holiday birthdays. If you are a close friend of mine, you probably know that since the beginning of time I have wanted a Halloween baby to continue the non-gift holidays. (Wouldn’t it be AWESOME to have your birthday on Halloween?!) So we’ll see if that happens someday.

Speaking of halloween celebrations, I totally could not stop singing this song this morning. Which was super annoying because I only knew ten words.

If you don’t watch 30 Rock you should. Oh man, it’s so good.

Yipppee! I’m back to my old random self on this blog. Ahhhh, it’s good to be back!

Hey there from Sunny CA! Actually we are back to rain here in Northern Cali . Boo-hoo, but we need it. We had temps above 70 for a week so I can’t complain. Okay, I’ll shut up already.

Annnnnnnnd, did you know I have an April Fool’s Day baby???? My middle child, my son Dane who will be 5 this coming April 1st! The best part is he totally lives up to his b-day. I went into labor with my first contraction at 1:09am, and after a mad rush barely making it to the hospital, he was born at 3:07am! Talk about a trick! And he is my little jokester to this day.

I’m pretty sure my sister (another californian) follows your blog too, but she’s a non-commenter. Let’s see if we can draw her out of lurkdom……Oh Kathryn…….come out, come out, wherever you are!????

Betsy, welcome back! I’ve missed your blogging! My birthday is 10/29 and was often thrown in with Halloween celebrations. Most of my cakes were Halloween or harvest related. I have good memories 🙂 Stay warm!

That’s funny your b-day is on April fools day because I’m also a April fools baby! At least your mom didn’t name you April, though my mom swears she had the name picked out way ahead of time. ;o) I am going to have to check out Kindermusik. Not sure if they have classes here in Indy but I know my son would love them!

    Stay warm!

Hello from a serial lurker! I first saw your blog via Diaperpin.com and have been checking it regularly since for the awesome photography! We are up in a similarly cold place- Maine- and I think your cold snap is headed our way this weekend. Thanks! Oh, and if you want a Halloween baby, wouldn’t this be a good time to start trying?? (Wink, wink!)

I’m right there with you on the cold, brrr! My son’s birthday lands on Friday the 13th this year, that’ll be fun when he’s a teenager i’m sure! Mine lands on Victoria’s Day every 7th year, which is awesome since up here Victoria’s Day means fireworks. Nothing like fireworks for your birthday! My daughter’s right in Prime Easter time, i’m sure she’ll enjoy all the chocolate in years to come. YAY for holiday birthdays!

Coming out of lurkdom. Yes, another Californian, Amy T’s sister. I love looking at all your beautiful photos of clients and of course Miles! If you ever come to California you could earn some $$ in photo shoots with us (and probably Amy too!). I am not an accountant, but perhaps the whole trip could be written off on your taxes as a business expense? It is cold in the San Francisco area today-I think in the 50’s, brrrr.
